This Year's Model Updates:

For 2006, the Saturn Vue gets a revised interior with a new center stack, center console, door panels and seat fabric. Outside, the front and rear fascias have been redesigned. Steering wheel-mounted audio controls are now standard, along with OnStar, power windows and power locks. The optional CD/MP3 audio system now includes an auxiliary jack for portable audio devices. The Red Line gets standard ebony leather seats with suede inserts, a power driver seat, unique instrumentation and ambient footwell lighting in both warm amber and cool blue.

Pros:
  • Strong V6, roomy cabin, comfortable ride, excellent crash test scores, good fuel economy.
Cons:
  • Below-average build quality, some low-grade interior plastics, undersized front seats, vague steering.

  • About the car - 2006 Saturn VUE

It is probably the best car I’ve had so far. I just hit 280,000 miles on it today and it is still going as good as it did 5 years ago. Probably one of the best cars I’ve had ever and I got it when it came out and I’ve only had to replace the starter and alternator on it 2 years ago at different times.

  • Engine with major pep - 2006 Saturn VUE

Even though my wife and I love to drive the new 2006 V-6 with its 250 hp Honda engine, we have found that the comfort of the interior truly lacks creative design. I am 63 and i find nowhere to put my legs for real comfort on those long road trips. The floor is not flat but curves up so the foot cant rest in a normal plane. But overall, it is a great riding car.

  • Terrible Road Noise - 2006 Saturn VUE
    By -

I bought my 2006 Vue new and have no complaints except for the road noise. I thought it was the tires so I changed and got new ones but it still is so loud. It sounds like a 4 wheel drive truck. It is a really loud humming noise and it about drives me crazy. I love everything else about the car except this noise. Excellent gas mileage, plenty of room. The seats could be a little more comfortable but not bad. The power it has is unbelieveable and when washed and cleaned up it looks brand new. If only I could cure the noise, I really dont think I could stand to go on a very long trip in it.

It does not get what I had expected in gas mileage, I really only get about 15 miles to the gallon. I could have done better with a smaller engine or a smaller car. Its a nice car to drive and very comfotable. I think they are misleading in gas mileage numbers and real commuter driving. All the repairs parts cost a small fortune also as well as the initial cost is more.

  • Wind noise - 2006 Saturn VUE
    By -

The only complaint I have about my VUE is the wind noise, lots of wind noise. Also in bad weather when you open back doors there is mud rain snow rock salt that has came in under the door. Seems to me they should of sealed around doors more and also windows. The seal is a hard plastic not like rubberized on most cars. Also the window controls are in an odd place, hard to get use to. Other than that I love the drive and ride of it.

I have owned the Saturn for almost two years now and have been happy with it. Though the front seats are lacking in comfort during long trips, they are suitable for around town. The room is great for getting stuff around town, especially with the front seat laying flat. The sport package is great with the alloys, power package, and sunroof. The 5 speed is the only way to go with the 4 cyl. otherwise the power is too lacking. All in all a fun car to drive.

Happy with the overall package. Interior quality not up to Honda and others, but love the Honda V6 and transmission. Gets good gas mileage and is pleasant to drive.

  • My First SUV - 2006 Saturn VUE

I Love Saturn, Ive owned two lux sedans and one ION, this is my first VUE. It feels good and safe to sit up high, but I also feel very cramped. I just dont have any leg room to feel comfortable. It moves out quickly when you need the power and has good breaking traction. Im still trying to get use to the quick response with the steering wheel. It moves to quick for me, more like a sports car should. I like it but I wouldnt buy it again. I stick with Saturn, but the VUE was not my cup of tea.

  • Happy After 40 Months - 2006 Saturn VUE
    By -

Overall, I have been happy with the vehicle. The V6 power is great when you step on the gas and the transmission is silky smooth - even after 45,000 miles. Im still on the original tires, but am searching for info on replacements (preferable something more snow-friendly). My biggest complaint revolves around the issue of noise: road noise, chassis noise, mysterious interior creaks and rattles, and wind noise. I also have a 2006 Honda Odyssey (same engine as the Saturn) and the difference in noise is night and day.

  • Not entirely sold - 2006 Saturn VUE

This vehicle is fine in the summer months, good on gas, comfortable enough for trips I guess. But handling in the snow is terrible. There are some annoying incidentals on how its fashioned inside and I have had numerous issues with things like the wiper spray, door foam, etc. The people at the dealership are great, but the car just inst up to par. Get the AWD if you have any chance of driving in snow, that has got to be better!
