This Year's Model Updates:

New last year, the Vue gets only minor changes for 2003. V6 models are now available with front-wheel drive, while a new options package bundles together heated leather seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. A new optional audio system includes a subwoofer, 180-watt amplifier and six door-mounted speakers.

Pros:
  • Large doors ease entry/exit, extensive choice of drivetrains, spacious cabin, excellent crash test scores.
Cons:
  • Bland interior, low-grade plastics, noisy four-cylinder, vague steering.

  • A Different Kind of Car Company???? - 2003 Saturn VUE
    By -

I am a 10 yr customer of the saturn company. Then came the VUE. I was leery about buying a new vehicle with it being its 2nd year of production, but with Saturns customer policy,I took that chance.I had to bring it in for hesistation problems. After the 3rd time I started to activate the lemon law. The dealership/service people were wonderful in the whole experience. But the Corporate Level people are rude and wont or cant answer any direct question put to them. I guess customer loyality means less than nothing to them. I would never ever deal with the Saturn Corp again. A different kind of car company put me through a whole different kind of hell!!!

  • Run away and dont look back - 2003 Saturn VUE

Bought this used over a year ago and it has had numerous issues. Shifter assembly, bad struts, leaky seals, motor on rear wiper went out and now clutch is out. Tires also highest price ones on market to replace. Was conned into extended warranty but nothing yet has been covered by it, and now it has expired. The window buttons are in an awkward spot in the middle and collect dust really bad with deep finger wells. It now has 91,000 miles and Im not sure it will make it to 100K. Researched numerous issues about transmissions and bad timing chains which cause motor failure. This vehicle is not well built and I will never buy Saturn again. I have spent more on repairs than payments.

  • vue or dealership? - 2003 Saturn VUE

i bought my saturn vue 2 weeks ago and have driven it a total of 5 days. its been to the dealership for check engine light(twice), keyless alarm not working (twice), missing lug nut caps, the steering shroud (twice), my e-brake lever was gouged by the leather seat installer along with the rear wheel well plastic on both sides, had to have the rear springs refitted, window moulding needed refitting. thank goodness for their 30 day no-haggle return policy.

  • Not happy after 10 months - 2003 Saturn VUE
    By -

After 10 months and 11000 miles have had 1. recall for trans 2.needed rear tires balanced 3. gas gauge broke 4. had to have rotors turned after 7000 miles!! 5. have had to dealer twice for rattles and vibrations from the doors, dash and they cannot find it. 6. one speaker buzzed and had to be replaced. Also getting at most 21 MPG. Noisy. Had a honda CRV and never went back in over 3 years.

  • Much less vehicle then expected. - 2003 Saturn VUE
    By -

My 2003 VUE has been less then a joy to own. The day after I got it I cried all the way to work because it was so uncomfortable. I drive 50 miles one way. I should have gone straight back to the dealer and returned then. The window switches needed to be replaced before I took it home. The rotors on the brakes went at 24,000 miles and all four wheel bearings needed to be replaced by 50,000 miles. Only one was under warranty. (of course!) My airconditioning unit runs non stop even if its not been on in weeks. The dealer says its fine. My gas mileage in the city is around 15 mpg and barely 20mpg on the highway. Big big mistake keeping this thing. Now I am stuck with it.

  • SATURN IS A JOKE! - 2003 Saturn VUE
    By -

I just paid cash for what I thought was a reliable and "responsable" vehicle. 3 DAYS after i bought the car the transmission went completly out!! Ive contacted the Saturn company, the Warranty company and the dealer I bought from. Saturn says they are no longer rebuilding that transmission and are not at this time doing anythig for thier drivers. The warranty company tells me to find a transmission shop who will rebuild it for me (NO ONE WILL IVE CALLED!) and they are right now taking the Saturn Vue OUT of thier warranties!! I am trying to get the dealer to back me out of the deal and give me my money back! Saturn knows theyve screwed up and are not doing anything to make it right!!

  • What Vue? - 2003 Saturn VUE
    By -

I have been reading some pretty bad things about the VUE and thought I was the only one with the same problems everyone is having with this god-awful car. Not only did no one tell me about the transmission and wheel bearing problems but I was not please to know that my warranty had expired 2 months before I paid a ton of money getting some transmission work done. And of course Saturn is the only place who can fix the problem so you can spend more money on this piece of crap car! I am trading this car in soon to avoid future problems and not ever recommending Saturns to anyone!

  • VTI Transmission - 2003 Saturn VUE
    By -

The VUE in itsself is a good car however the transmission is horrible and has an unfixable problem...Saturn refuses to do anything about it....I considar it false advertising, and am dissapointed with the service connected with it. However the saturn of pensacola has been very helpful, and I acknoledge that it isnt their fault, and appreciate all their help.

  • Weekly Visits To Service - 2003 Saturn VUE
    By -

I purchased a 2002 Saturn VUE AWD 3L 6cyl last November 2002. Since I purchased the vehicle has been in for service four times. Three of the four times for the same problem. The SES light and the Power Reduction lights come on. The dealer puts the car on the computer and gets the codes. They replaced the wiring, the ignition chip, and now the on board computer. I am very unhappy with the quality of my VUE. Fortunately, all the service has been warranty 3yrs/36k. The dealership have been great in getting me rentals while the VUE is in the shop. Just a frustrated owner, since Saturn inception preaching Quality and Reliability.

  • BAD TRANSMISSION - 2003 Saturn VUE
    By -

The VTi transmission in this car is prone to premature failure and there is a class action lawsuit agains saturn for it. My transmission just died at 100,000 miles, and costs 6200 for the part alone- and this is no exaggeration because Ive gotten 3 different quotes. Used is 2500 with 60k on it. I have 6500 left on my loan and am a 23 year old grad student now without a car and thousands of dollars in payments left. Dont waste your money. If you have this car, Get a warranty on your transmission!
