This Year's Model Updates:

New last year, the Vue gets only minor changes for 2003. V6 models are now available with front-wheel drive, while a new options package bundles together heated leather seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. A new optional audio system includes a subwoofer, 180-watt amplifier and six door-mounted speakers.

Pros:
  • Large doors ease entry/exit, extensive choice of drivetrains, spacious cabin, excellent crash test scores.
Cons:
  • Bland interior, low-grade plastics, noisy four-cylinder, vague steering.

  • FUN - 2003 Saturn VUE

I need a SUV for work and drive all over the place. The VUE is fun to drive and hauls a lot of stuff. I too have gone fast and felt the steering wheel start to shake which is disconcerting. I find it very comfortable, although my teenage kids and husband dont. They dont have enough room and arent crazy about the ride. I am the owner and driver and I just love it!!! I think it should be made a little quieter and the steering doesnt have the tighest control. This is my third saturn, and Im sure not my last.

For the first 2.5 years of ownership, I drove 49 miles one way to work (mostly highway). I average right around 24 mpg which I find pretty good for an SUV. Folding the front seat I was able to get 10 2X6s in and close the gate (had rest the end of the 2X6 on the dash - but still). Im constantly amazed at how much Im able to cram into this thing. After a baby shower I was looking at all the large gifts and planning my 2nd trip - but it all fit (with room for me and a passenger). In just over 3 years I have 95k miles on it and no mechanical problems (Im even on the original brakes!)

I bought at about 30,000 miles in 2006. Since then, have had to replace 2 wheel bearings- soon to be 3, the whole front axel, sensors, the ac sensor and $1500 in other parts, etc. Total of costs I have had to put into it are half of what I paid for car! Now I understand why Saturn cars are no longer being made!!! PS. I had problems with areas of car that were on warranty. I had car into dealer 3 times before warranty up cause I had problems...they waited unti warranty up to actually figure out what was wrong and wouldnt cover under warranty..Said it wasnt there warranty to make the choice.

Just parked a V6 Vue last night in the driveway. Great dealership experience. What you see is what you get! Salesman drove almost 100 miles to 2 different other dealerships to bring us the silver V6 that we wanted . He delivered the car to my home with a full gas tank. Try this in a Japanese dealership...Other two options were Honda CRV and Xterra. Honda - too pricey for a 4 cylinder/160 hp car; Nissan - pricey, poor built, bad design on the rear seats if you want to fold them down. VUE have a kick-a$$ V6/181 hp with plenty of power, designed in Germany by Opel/GM. 5 Speed auto is smooth. Car drives like a sedan. Plenty of cargo room. Great looking design.

  • Happy with the VUE - 2003 Saturn VUE

Ive had my VUE for a little over a month now and Im very happy with it. The ride on the highway took some getting used to with the electric motor power steering but its now second nature. A very solid feel at slow and fast speeds. A commanding sense of comfort and safety.

  • Last Saturn I buy - 2003 Saturn VUE

I love and still have my 1993 Saturn SL, so when I was in the market for a new car, Saturn was my choice. Sadly I made a mistake, since our purchase, we have had a recall for the rear suspension, had to put in a new transmission and put up with "shoddy" workmanship. My 1993 SL1 drives much quiter and better. No wonder GM is in trouble.

Our new Saturn Vue is a delight to drive, it handles very well with no nonsense steering. Being on the short side (411") I must admit I was at first a bit intimidated with the overall size of the vehicle, but I quickly became accustomed to it and now drive like a pro. The drivers seat, mirrors etc.... are all very easily adjusted to accommodate me. It is a bit noisy on the road but I find that the overall performance of this vehicle makes up for any of its short comings.

The most enjoyable buying experience I have ever encountered. No hassle - no haggle. It was wonderful.

  • So far so good - 2003 Saturn VUE

purchased vehicle like most of us from reviews and opinions-Suv has power V6- a looks of interior room. But somethings you stop & thick what are the thinking--no under dash lights, map lights shine in your face, sun visors is too small, no dash board indicator for cruise control. Overall the Vue drive well and appears to well built.. Time will tell..follow up in a few months
