This Year's Model Updates:

New last year, the Vue gets only minor changes for 2003. V6 models are now available with front-wheel drive, while a new options package bundles together heated leather seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. A new optional audio system includes a subwoofer, 180-watt amplifier and six door-mounted speakers.

Pros:
  • Large doors ease entry/exit, extensive choice of drivetrains, spacious cabin, excellent crash test scores.
Cons:
  • Bland interior, low-grade plastics, noisy four-cylinder, vague steering.

I bought my Saturn VUE in 2008. I have driven it over a year now and I have had no complications like I am reading here. I did however just have my brake shoes replaced and they are now telling me that my front wheel bearings are a little loose and will need replacing soon. Other than that I have had no problems like I have been reading. Trust me, I am still reading up on all these problems.

the saturn vue is a great commuter suv. un like other suvs that guzzle gas the saturn vue is economical . and it looks good . theres also alot of options you can get for a fairly decent price . That in fact that the vue is made primairily in the US made one of the only SUV choices in my price and fuel range . the vue is ok to drive and has a great turning ratio but over all they could of done a better job with comfort, the seats are thin and not that comfortable at the price i paid i expected more . over all it s like i said a great commuter that looks good for less

LOVE this SUV. Coming from sportscars all my life this is a joy. I feel safe but not overpowered by size. Love the saturn service people.

I bought this car new in 2003, and was very happy with it for the first six or seven years. I am now holding my breath because I have the infamous CVT tranny. I have less than 65,000 miles on it, but wont drive it out of town for fear that the tranny will fail. I am amazed at the number of people who have bought this car in the last year or two. Any amount of research would have revealed the issue and the 2007 class-action suit filed against Saturn. The judgement was against them, and they were told to cover 100% of repair/replacement costs. Since GM filed bankruptcy, they have weaseled out of that and will only cover half. Half of over $7500 is waaay too much!

  • Do not buy! - 2003 Saturn VUE

We bought to replace a too small Honda Civic. I loved it for the first year and its been nothing but problems since. We had to replace the thermostat and the drivers side seat heater. he check engine light goes on and off all the time and the low coolant light comes on and off as well. The brakes dont last and now we have coolant leaking out and mixing with the oil. Getting rid of it as soon as possible!! Loved the interior design, just hate the problems.

2003 Saturn VUE has had serious engineer flaws, to include suspension problems times two.The vehicle has 3 onbaord computers that do not function well & as a result will not report problems such as transmission slipping & completely going into a neutral state. The computer that controls the dash panel cause many of the warning lights to malfunction but never registered. No register, not get fixed says Saturn, unless they see it happen. I was luck on the way out it malfunctioned. The computer never registered a problem. Same thing with the transmission. Computer never registers an error.

The price is why I bought (Zero down & Zero interest) and with the options I wanted -- only $17,900 before taxes, title, tags, and $200 prep charge. I have had it for about 3 months and pleased. With two-wheel front-wheel drive handled very well in the snow and ice on a ski trip in January. As roomy inside as the Jeep Grand Cherokee (had 2 over the previous 6 years) but feels cheaper inside, but it is about $8-10K cheaper

  • Not too durable - 2003 Saturn VUE

While I have enjoyed the VUE, the durability of this GM product has left me thinking I should have bought a Honda! I have had 5 visits to the shop for front end issues in the last 6 months and all were right after the 36000 mile warranty expired. I was smart and you would be too to buy the extra warranty if you purchase a VUE. Front wheel drive does not handle as well in snow and wet as does a CRV for example.
