This Year's Model Updates:

New last year, the Vue gets only minor changes for 2003. V6 models are now available with front-wheel drive, while a new options package bundles together heated leather seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. A new optional audio system includes a subwoofer, 180-watt amplifier and six door-mounted speakers.

Pros:
  • Large doors ease entry/exit, extensive choice of drivetrains, spacious cabin, excellent crash test scores.
Cons:
  • Bland interior, low-grade plastics, noisy four-cylinder, vague steering.

  • Almost one year after... - 2003 Saturn VUE

I bought my VUE last November--took advantage of the 0% offer. Overall, I am pleased with my purchase. I love the space and feel of the vehicle. However, several things sometimes make me wonder if I made the right decission (read below), especially the poor resale value. Recent buyers, enjoy it now! In a few months, you will be questioning yourself when you start hearing weird noises or when, for example, the (cheap) sponge-like material that "prevents" the door handle from scratching the actual door unexpectedly breaks. It sounds like it is nothing, but we are talking about a NEW vehicle!

  • I love it but..... - 2003 Saturn VUE

I just bought a brand new 2003 Saturn VUE 2 months old and I really do love it. But it has already been brought in for service twice, once it had to be towed. I have this annoying rattling coming from the back. The service dept. found the noise, said it was the seat, and said they fixed it,but its back again. I had it towed b/c of the transmission. I was told that it was the transmission modular control (whatever that is). As far as Im concerned,NONE of this should be happening. Although the service dept. has been great and very helpful, including setting me up w/a rental, I am very unhappy, and I have recently started looking closely into the Lemon Law.

My Vue went our last March. I didnt drive it much I had it for 3 years. I bought it at 54,000 miles on it. Sadly enough had I driven it more it would have been covered when the tranny went out.it was a month after the deadline. Im surprised people are still selling the 2002-2005 at 8,000. They are only worth about 4,000. It was a decent car. Its not worth 8,000,considering the transmission in it costs 5,000 to replace. Oddly enough I would consider buying a 2007-2009, but GM is so hard to deal with.

  • Reliable but noisy - 2003 Saturn VUE

I bought this car new and now have 211,000 miles on it. The thermostat and computer went out under warranty at about 25,000. The water pump went out at about 95,000, so I changed the timing belt at that time and it saved a bunch. Rear right bearing and hub went out at about 180,000. The big issue has been the tires. The rear tires get eaten up for some reason and get very noisy. I have to rotate the tires every 5000 to minimize this issue. The SUV is noisy in general, but most SUVs are. The vehicle is not smooth in acceleration or response to the throttle, it is jerky. But at the same time I have not had to do much to it for 211,000 miles of use! Front bearing and hub needed now.

Great vehicle, but needs a few improvements.

  • Comfortable but chintzy interior - 2003 Saturn VUE

Saturn Vue is comfortable and there is a lot of interior room. The inside finish is particularly cheap and the overall workmanship is less than one would expect from a car sold at a premium on which there is no negotiation. The legendary Saturn service is a great ad campaign but in practice it is a lot of "feel good activity" and very little actual help or action if something is wrong.

  • Happy with my Vue - 2003 Saturn VUE

Ive had this vehicle for three months and so far I have enjoyed the Vue. I have the 4 cyl. automatic because the salespeople talked us out of the V6 saying it was getting horrible gas mileage. I dont believe the 4 cyl. gets much better. Nowhere near the sticker. Thats probably my biggest complaint. The car lacks power, but I knew that when I purchased it so I cant complain. As for the interior, I feel it is well laid out, but everything is plastic. Overall, Im happy with my purchase and would recommend this to others who were looking for an economical SUV. This would be an ideal vehicle for a young family.

  • so far , so good - 2003 Saturn VUE

We recently purchased our vue after having minivans for several years. I am the most critical of the two of us, being the husband and wife. My wife has long enjoyed smaller sportier cars and I like more room. We had bought a cherokee sport before and I didnt like it after getting it.This is the first suv that I have liked well enough to buy.The dealership where we got ours was very helpful.Right now,the vue is fun to drive and I like having the sunroof in it. We went with the med. green color and got leather seats in it Gas milage is okay so far, buthavent had it on a long trip.our son who just turned 18 yrs. old, really likes this suv.
