For 2006, the Saturn Vue gets a revised interior with a new center stack, center console, door panels and seat fabric. Outside, the front and rear fascias have been redesigned. Steering wheel-mounted audio controls are now standard, along with OnStar, power windows and power locks. The optional CD/MP3 audio system now includes an auxiliary jack for portable audio devices. The Red Line gets standard ebony leather seats with suede inserts, a power driver seat, unique instrumentation and ambient footwell lighting in both warm amber and cool blue.

Pros:
  • Strong V6, roomy cabin, comfortable ride, excellent crash test scores, good fuel economy.
Cons:
  • Below-average build quality, some low-grade interior plastics, undersized front seats, vague steering.

  • Many issues *Thank God for Warranty* - 2006 Saturn VUE

Well in the first couple of months the computer module went bad and I lost all power in the vehicle - Warranty $100.00. Then there was an awful squeak in the front end - Warranty $100.00. Then the front left wheel bearing went - Warranty $100.00. Then the computer went again and this time nothing in the truck would shut off and it sat on the tow truck and at Saturn until the battery went - Warranty $400.00 fought and got 100.00 back (battery cost over 100.00?) Then the rear right wheel bearing went - $100.00. And now the Front Rotors are bad and I am doing them myself... Service dept doesnt even ask if its warrantied until they come and ask you to sign for the total amount for repairs?

  • Save Yourself the Hassle - 2006 Saturn VUE

I have owned my Vue for approx two years, and in just the last month, I have had it in the shop four times! They dont know what the problem is so now they just keep telling me they cant duplicate the problem--what a load of bull! I would caution you against purchasing one. Theyre nice to look at, but if you plan on taking a trip in one, you can plan on hearing lots of noise from your vehicle, as well as, all the others on the road, and you may want to make alternate plans in case your Vue breaks down-- you also may want to add an extra day or two into your trip b/c Ive waited on tow trucks for hours! You will get decent gas mileage--that is if you can get it to go anywhere!

  • Could be better, my 2nd VUE and my last - 2006 Saturn VUE

I actually had another VUE before I bought this one. The old one was a 2004/man.transmission. 4cyl. engine. I liked it more, but it was totaled in an accident at someone elses fault. I survived at least 6 full tumbles down an embankment--I credit the safety features of the VUE. After that experience I only felt safe buying another one. New one is a 2006. Things randomly fall off--hubcap, side door panel. Had to pay to be replaced. Interior stains easily-- wish I had gone for the leather, instead. Buttons on the steering wheel randomly stick (despite detailing/cleaning) and things go haywire. If I could go back, Id get the V6, the leather, and the AWD. Dont get the basic model.

  • Disappointments Keep Coming - 2006 Saturn VUE

The problems started from the day I got it home just 1 week ago. The roof racks make a terrible noise above 50 MPH (verified and acknowledged by service at Saturn Dealer) and no one makes an aftermarket rack for the VUE. I thought I was buying a trailer hitch for a 2006 but found they dont have one and the 2005 hitch requires the dealer to cut out the lower panel on the bumper. There are styrofoam structure SUPPORT(?) components throught the vehicle, even in the bumper. The vehicle makes a weird vibration when you cross over a speed bump. The first fill up resulted in a gas-guzzling 15.9 MPG (rated at 19/25). The storage area behind the drivers side front seat lined with foam rubber.

  • Irritating Problems - 2006 Saturn VUE

I bought my 2006 Vue Redline new and thought is was a solid vehicle. Now with nearly 30k miles, Ive had a new transmission, fuel pump, various gaskets, left front strut mount replaced. Now the right front strut mount is making a rattle. It got terrible gas mileage since day one. (16 city, 18-20 hwy). On the bright side, when they replaced all the above parts, my gas mileage has improved. Im now getting 20.6 city and 26+ on the highway. Thats fine, however, I seem to spend a lot of commuting time back and forth to the dealership. Thanks goodness its still under the B to B 3/36 warranty.

  • Nice but needs improvement - 2006 Saturn VUE

Have small problems such as windshield washer fluid leakage. Antifreeze leakage. Rear brakes need to be turned at 20,000 miles. Rattle noise from engine compartment. Rubber moulding around rear doors becomes detached easily. Larger problem with replacement of trans-axle at 21,000 miles. Vehicle rides hard and expect to replace struts and shocks by 25,000 miles.

So far, So Good. Big selling point is the HONDA V6 250hp ENGINE. the VUE AWD has some get up and go performance, handles well. Good 360 view. Recommend for the road warrior who wants to appeal to the soccer moms. However, big caveat is the poor gas mileage. So far under 20mpg combined city/hwy, sticker rated at 22-28mpg. Guess those 250 horses gotta eat! pay for the optional sound system, the standard radio/speaker combo is oh-hum at best.

  • Too many visits to dealership - 2006 Saturn VUE

31,000 miles and has been at the dealership several times with the same issue, transmission, torque converter, or they say. Corporate says that the problem is normal for the Vue. If normal then would be there from day 1. Still rattling noise and hesitations after past last gear. Would never own another Saturn again. Zipping noise when turning steering wheel. Dealer says normal for car again.

  • Trading it in Tomorrow Just 3000 miles - 2006 Saturn VUE

The last time I bought an American made car was in 1986. At that time I swore I would never buy one again due to the lack of quality craftmanship. And I made it twenty years until I saw the 2006 Saturn VUE. Love is blind! This vehicle, although it gives a comfortable ride, when it goes over a bump you get the feeling something is going to fall off, the dashboard is constantly creaking, and the road and wind noise are horrific. I brought it back to the dealer and was told that the road noise was pretty much a characteristic of the VUE. You cant use OnStar while the car is moving no one can hear you over the road noise. And oh, the gas mileage is awful.

  • Not so hot - 2006 Saturn VUE

Really dont love our VUE. Bought it in early 05 and have had it in the shop at least a dozen times with annoying little things. Had issues with our air bags, starter, radio, passenger heated seat, etc... the list goes on. Overall, not happy with our little SUV. Looking to upgrade and unfortunately Saturn has left a bad taste in my mouth. Would love to try the Outlook, but scared of staying with them.
