This Year's Model Updates:

New last year, the Vue gets only minor changes for 2003. V6 models are now available with front-wheel drive, while a new options package bundles together heated leather seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. A new optional audio system includes a subwoofer, 180-watt amplifier and six door-mounted speakers.

Pros:
  • Large doors ease entry/exit, extensive choice of drivetrains, spacious cabin, excellent crash test scores.
Cons:
  • Bland interior, low-grade plastics, noisy four-cylinder, vague steering.

  • On thing after another - 2003 Saturn VUE

I bought this Saturn Vue new and 6 months later I lost the transmision driving on the highway then it went downhill from there, little things one after another. Poor quality on the dash instrumentation, broke the hazzard light button twice, handle for the hood release broken twice. Issue with fuel guage malfunctioning seems to have been an issue with several GM models in southern Ontario. Heated seat not working anymore on drivers side. A few lights on the dash not working anymore. Was not impressed to learn that new tires where only available at the dealership only and they are quite pricey. Headlight bulb gone out had to go to dealer to have it replaced because I did not have in hand the GM screwdriver

The problems with my saturn are the steering pulls to one side or the other. It is to sensitive to the crown in the road,if the road is alittle lower on the left it pulls to the left. (to sensitive)Its a fight to drive the car. The transmission shifts late or at to high an RPM. Dirt, and road sand, and salt get between the rear door and the rear quarter pannels almost inside the car. I see a rust problem ahead.

Only after settling for the one manual- equipped model on the lot did I realize that, despite being loaded with a sunroof and alloy wheels and the power equipment package, I dont even have the safety of anti-lock brakes or side head curtain airbags. I might terminate the lease early. The white paint always looks dirty, and the tan cloth is pilling and fading and collecting dirt. Rattles and squeaks abound. Power is decent. Body roll in turns annoys. Plenty of cargo space. Shifting is rather vague; the clutch is abrupt.

  • Not a problem - 2003 Saturn VUE

I bought my Saturn VUE used in 2005. It had 42,000 miles on it. I love it. The only problem I had with my is that the battery died last year. That was the first time Id changed it since I got the car. The only complaints I have about the Vue is that you can hear outside noise, it rides a little rough and the interior is cheat. Other than that I love it and have had no problems and I would recommend the VUE.

  • Vue Just OK - 2003 Saturn VUE

We bought the Vue in December of 2002- wanted a small SUV, one that wasnt too costly. 2 weeks after we bought it, we had trouble with the VTI transmission and had to take it back for a "software upgrade." 4 months after wed had it, it was leaking something, (no the air conditioner was not on) and was told if I have my DEFROST on it leaks, too- I have NEVER had any vehicle do that! All in all- not too impressed with the VUE

The VTi transmission in the 2003 Vue is very bad. After we had paid our car off last month, we were driving home from the in-laws and the Vue went into "default" mode, not allowing us to drive more that 20 MPH. After we researched the problem, our transmission was shot, with a $6,000 estimate for repairs. Research the transmission issues if you consider buying this car. Besides that, we liked Saturn but will most likely never buy another Saturn.

  • Good for the Money. Would buy again - 2003 Saturn VUE

I bought my 2003 Saturn Vue 4 cylinder with a 5 speed manual transmission. I read on this site that the CVT were garbage but the manuals were worth the money. I love my car. I drive back and forth about 120 miles per day working about 1.5 hours away from my home. I bought the car with 70,000 miles on it. I just passed 105,000 miles and it is still running strong! The car is fun to drive. The only improvements I would have is that create stain free carpets and a quieter ride. The car is a little noisy on the highway. Saturn Customer service could be a little better because when calling for a particular part, I was given the run around. All in all, a great buy for the quality and price.

  • Fairly good vehicle - 2003 Saturn VUE

So far after 1 year, I have had no major problems. I do feel that the vehicle has high road noise level. I feel that it should get much better gas mileage for a 4 cyl. I average about 20/gal. I have a 6cyl pickup that gets that. It is a fairly comfortable and roomy little SUV. It does very well in the snow, even on the hills in the area I live. I had trouble with the gas gauge, for awhile, but it has seemed to fix itself, I figured it was a "float" or something in the tank. Oil changes are easy for the do it yourselfer.

  • Saturn USA? - 2003 Saturn VUE

I had a`95 SL1,it was great, Bought VUE took advantage of the 0.0% for 5 yrs, Than whoa!! they started offering "down payment assistance",What happened with price gaurantee, they said its the manufacture that can change the price dealers wont.Than it comes with a new power train for the V6 its a Honda, they conceeded that japanese engineering is better. Still like my FWD V6 VUE, thought it had the best style and efficiency until the new one came out. Hind-sight is 20/20.....I should have bought a used Japanese SUV! Its also loud. I put alot of faith in GM hoping they wouldnt exploit the Saturn Name, but little by little theyre chipping it away.
