The base Cayenne receives a six-speed manual transmission and Porsche's Drive-Off Assistant System, otherwise known as a "hill-holder" clutch. All Cayenne models now feature a power rear tailgate and body-colored side sills and fascias. An optional panoramic power sunroof debuts this year, along with an available rearview camera system. A comprehensive performance upgrade package is available on the Turbo model through Porsche's Tequipment program. Highlights include a horsepower increase to 500 and upgraded brakes.
- Sports car performance, available adjustable ride height and suspension damping control, solid off-road capability and towing capacity, slightly more cargo room than a Range Rover.

By Ron Joffe - January 30 - 7:40 pmHad excellent buying experience with dealer in every aspect. The vehicle is everything we expected. My only negative is the ride is very stiff. Vehicle has only 1600 miles on it and hopefully that will soften up a bit.

I put 20" technos with 275 Michelins on mine for non-winter driving (which are specifically designed for this vehicles suspension and rated at 186 mph) and the Cayenne is transformed to near 911 handling - what a difference, not that the 18" 255s are bad. These tires are a must have for the true performance seeker with $5,000 to spend on great fun. It is hard to get my PSM to kick on, wet or dry, with these on! Aggressive males and females will enjoy the most it has to offer. Why bother otherwise?

Maybe the Perfect Vehicle - 2005 Porsche Cayenne
By Steve - October 3 - 4:33 pmThis may be the perfect comprimise between a sporty car and off road vehicle, still keeping comfort in mind. The Cayenne Turbo is very fast, with pick up that does not make me miss my sports car, yet it drives off road like a Land Rover and I can take 5 large adults for a ride each having plenty of room. It has plenty of storage space for carrying groceries and has lots of luxury features, such as sunroof, satellite radio, heated seats, CD player, BOSE stereo, navigation, etc. Literally, nothing is missing, and everything is done well. I can even tow several tons behind me. The drive is comfortable and sporty and really, as I said, this maybe the perfect vehicle that does everything very well

Pure Pleasure - 2005 Porsche Cayenne

I just returned from a road trip from California to Oregon and back. The vehicle performed wonderfully. Its steering, handling, power, Bose stereo, Navigation system, extra power from the S model, etc... I cant wait to go on my next road trip to Canada. Thank you, Porsche!

Smooth Ride - 2005 Porsche Cayenne
By Litacher - April 11 - 10:13 amI love it! I have been a Porshe owner for many years and the Cayenne S is great. I sold my Carrera 911 for the Cayenne S. I wish I had done it sooner. It is truly a joy to drive, a serious road car. I travel about 80 miles a day round trip, 5 days a week. The downside to the SUV is the gas mileage.

Cayenne S after 14,000 miles - 2005 Porsche Cayenne
By fastdiablo - March 13 - 8:40 pmThe Porsche Cayenne has a stellar motor, taught suspension, and unreal handling for a 5,000 lb. truck. The tiptronic shifters on the steering wheel are outstanding. The interior fit and finish are superb, its ergonomics are comfortable, and its driving position is firm and supportive. This trucks quality and design are German to the nth degree, which is a great thing. The navigation and stereo are both easy to use. The sound system is excellent. This vehicle has lots of usable space and the back seats are spacious. Folding the seats down could be easier though. Ive had two very small problems in 14,000 miles. First, there was a rattle in the rear door which was a cable that became unfastened - easy fix by the dealer. The second was that the windshield wipers were sqeaky - they were replaced by the dealer. I have never had any mechanical issues.

drives like a sports car - 2005 Porsche Cayenne
By dave s - January 30 - 12:30 amApart from some minor electrical problems with the remote the car is glitch free. I am a dad with children ages 5 and 7. I also own a Porsche 996 Carrera. If it is raining or I have carpool duties this car is my absolute favorite to drive. It drives like a sports car and is plenty fast. The true beauty of this car is its cornering stability and braking . As for acceleration and speed , I have to remind myself that high speed driving is not a good idea with young kids in tow and therefore I dont regret not buying the Turbo. If you dont have young kids get the Turbo. The Porsche Carrera is the best car but for rainy days and kid towing I absolutely love my Cayenne. Get it fully loaded - dont skimp.

By Ginger - December 23 - 10:16 pmIt is faster than my older Porsches, but does not handle as well as a 911. On the other hand, it can cut through esses on ramps better than any vehicles other than the exotics and Porsche sports cars I encounter. The Turbo can be a little explosive, like the old 930s, but the large engine with the 457 ft pounds of torque at 2200 rpm really hides any turbo lag. I wish they would let me use it at a PCA track event.
