Model Overview:

The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.

New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

  • Never another Nissan - 2005 Nissan Murano

Not a well built vehicle. Safety issues that are well known and common with this vehicle. Electric door locks do not work (wouldnt open if in an accident and you had a child by one of those doors). Sun visors wont stay up and keep falling down. That is another safety issue that is well documented. They are also well know for cheap paint that peels after a few years (we have had to have our hood repainted and it sets in a garage when not used). Most of the plastic shields that guard the fender wells, and parts underneath have fallen off or had to be tied up. 4 expensive sensors have had to be replaced. On the up side, we havent had any drive train trouble as of yet.

The S model comes with lot of standard features like v6 245 hp engine, 18 inch wheels and front and side airbags. I love this vehicle its so roomy inside and i picked this car after doing so much research cuz i am an tall guy whom needs lot of leg room and Murano has lot of room. Awesome rear seats which recline like a couch. Smooth drive and awesome exterior.

  • Brand New Murano - 2005 Nissan Murano

Looked at reviews for months. Wanted the SL but once I drove the SE I was hooked. Not 1 squeak. Very smooth acceleration. So far gas milage has been around 15MPG around town. Want to know the milage press the button and it will tell you. Controls are easy to figure out. Basically I love this Car / Truck. Not sure what it is! :)

  • 3 days and We Love this Murado ! - 2005 Nissan Murano

The first place we went was up Highway 2,in Pasadena, Into the mountains. All Smiles from the wife as she negosiated the winding road at 20 mph above the posted speed. The SE Supension really holds the road and on the freeway or City streets it is very smooth. We are looking forward to the Mexico trip to see how well it handles We expect to be all smiles. The SE Supension is simular to a sports car but not rough. The Power is very good from the 3.5 V6 and the CVT transmission is amasing. The Murado is a Luxury Vehicle with out the Big price Tag The adjustable seating for all 5 seats is great I was susprised by the comfort.the Drivers

  • Pros are Wrong, Drivetrain is Strong - 2007 Nissan Murano

I find the power and the CVT to be very adequate. On the freeway at even 80 mph the pickup is outstanding for such a vehicle. The handling is precise and the road feel is excellent. I see no downsides to this vehicle. I get almost 23 mpg at 80 on the freeway, and about 20 around town.

  • Should have kept my Sienna - 2009 Nissan Murano
    By -

I was ready to be done with minivans with the kids off to college. Traded sienna for the 2009 Murano with 30K miles. Base AWD model, very clean. Same common complaint about cheap plastic inside with A LOT of rattles and squeaking whenever you hit small ruts and bumps in the road. Ride is firm but plenty of power. very smooth shifting and I am averaging 23.5 mpg. Big loss of cargo meant I had to rent uhaul to carry 50 in TV. blind spots take getting use to. Seats very comfortable. Murano wanders easily on highway so can be tiring. took getting use to. My wife doesnt like driving the Murano saying it is an effort to be smooth with the gas pedal and keep it from wandering out of lane

  • Back Again - 2009 Nissan Murano

I owned a 2003 Murano for five years and loved every minute of it. I finally decided it was time for a new vehicle. Due the price a gas these days, I decided to try a 2008 Honda Accord XLE for mpg improvements. It was a nice car, but I just could not adjust to driving a sedan and missed the Murano. I had to trade it in a go back to the Murano. The interior upgrades compared to 2003 are great. The power and handling inspire confidence and the mpg is as promised. I love the sound system, the backup camera and the push button start.

  • I LOVE MY MURANO!!! - 2003 Nissan Murano
    By -

I really love this car. It is fun to drive, confortable and very cool. I have one in copper and people are contantly coming up and asking me about it. Murano owners must be grat salespeople for Nissan! It does not get good gas mileage, however. Dont believe 18-24MPG. More like 16-19MPG tops. That aside - its a great vehicle.

  • Outstanding Vehicle - 2003 Nissan Murano

Bought my Midnight Blue Murano in May. It is everything I expected and more. We recently took it on an 1100 mile trip and it performed extremely well in both rain and high winds. Very quite cabin when windows are closed. Quite the sound system, the bass come in loud and clear. Navigaton system is a trip...ha ha. We didnt bring any maps and she brought us to our destination without a hitch! I would highly recommend this vehicle to anyone who loves to drive. Great pickup and passing power. Beats the Highlander by 150% which was my 2nd choice. Glad I bought the Murano.
