Overview & Reviews
The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.
New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

Miss my truck but LOVE my Murano - 2009 Nissan Murano
By TruckGirl - January 15 - 5:36 pmLeaving my 2005 Pathfinder for the 2009 Murano was tough for me - still is. In an effort to reduce my "carbon footprint" and experience a much smoother, luxury-like ride, I just leased a new Murano S AWD. Nissan did a phenomenal job upgrading from the 2007 model. The CVT is a dream to drive with and the handling is something I never thought Id experience in an SUV. The only downsides for me: recommended use of premium gas and the sub-par stereo system offered in the S model. For those of us who cant afford the SL or LE, itd be nice to have the choice in the S model of upgrading to the Bose stereo system. All in all, an amazing vehicle-just need more time to get used to the size downgrade.

Great, But.... - 2005 Nissan Murano
By PhotoPhritz - January 14 - 2:30 amThis vehicle is really different... in mostly wonderful ways... Great Drive. Comfortable Seats. Super room in backseat. Versatile. Sharp looking. Tracks (drives) well. Very little stress felt, even after a 5 hour drive. Not seeing tire wear (like previous reviews mentioned). Middle dashboard confusing, too many knobs & options. Terrible gas mileage.

Effortless Operation - 2009 Nissan Murano
By Daddy - January 8 - 7:46 amPurchased the car one month ago as a lease. Coming from a 2006 VW Passat. The Nissan does everything effortlessly. It accelerates like smooth butter. It has plenty of power and is as smooth as a Cadillac DTS, but has more of a sport feel when you need it to. It is not a huge vehicle but your seating position is nice and high and you have a commanding view of the road. The VW Passat is a great car and is underated when it comes to value and performance. That being said I feel the same about the Nissan. Great car, good price. The only thing I can find to complain about is the leather on the door feels cheap and scratches easily and the storage is somewhat small. Buy it you will like it!

Nissan Murano - 2005 Nissan Murano
By Rodney Vest - January 6 - 10:26 pmThe Nissan Murano is a very confortable vehichle that has more leg room in the back than I expected. The Murano is a blast to drive with excellent acceleration. The interior is nicely laid out with user friendly controls. I just drove through a really bad winter storm and it handled very well.

Awesome Murano - 2003 Nissan Murano
By Richies Murano - January 6 - 2:00 amI test drove Volswagon Taureg, Hyundi Santa Fe, Volvo XC-90. Murano was more stable, better gas mileage, better looking, better ride, and less expensive than every other vehicle except the Santa Fe(note to get a loaded out Santa Fe, you must pay close to $28,000). I paid 32000 with remote start, sunroof, Bose 6 CD player, custom calfskin.

Roomy, Powerful SUV - 2009 Nissan Murano
By John - January 4 - 9:30 amThe Good: roomy, powerful engine, smooth transmission, comfortable seats, good stereo system (if you can afford the audio upgrade, get it), AWD works great, CVT transmission works great (much better than the traditional Nissan transmissions which had many problems), seats 5, decent cargo space, good looking vehicle. The Bad: Wheel bearings went out ($800), catalytic converter issues ($1,500), interior plastic parts are cheap and scratch easy, rear seat handle release broke, could use a bluetooth upgrade. Overall... a great buy!

Love/Hate Relationship - 2005 Nissan Murano
By Skeptical in GA - January 3 - 3:03 amI loved the Murano when they came out and it was a clear choice when I downsized from my Chevy Tahoe. I wanted a smaller SUV but with a lot of interior space, especially in the back seat, and I loved the sporty style. I purchased an 05 the first week they came out. It rode very smooth and was quiet, had good pickup and much better gas mileage (21 mpg avg) compared to 14mpg in my Tahoe. Everything was great until this 4th year. My power seat has broken ($900), driver door lock is broken ($600), I need to replace my tires for the second time, and now my engine is making a knocking noise. Im told its probably the motor mounts (another $900). This car is getting expensive!

Dont expect a quality warranty! - 2006 Nissan Murano
By custservice1 - January 2 - 12:18 amThe transmission has a poor warranty of 5 years and / or 60,000 miles. My wifes vehicle has always been maintained and driven well but at 58,000 miles (2 1/2 months after the five year warranty expired) the transmission completely went out. The dealership qutoed $3,800 for the repair / replacement. We phoned Nissan directly (and the dealership also contacted them about the issue) hoping they would stand behind their car and help with a portion of the $4,000 bill for an obviously faulty transmission. The Nissan representative took 3 weeks to give an answer and then the answer was no, because oil changes and tire rotations were not done by the dealership! Dont expect them to stand behind it
