Model Overview:

The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.

New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

  • Fun Car for Adults - 2004 Nissan Murano

While the rest of the car makers are making these big, bulky SUVs that can practically have your whole neighborhood carpool with you. The makers of the Nissan Murano had one thing in their agenda - a simple, sleek and chick SUV. Its made for people who loves to drive and have fun while doing it. Its a necessity for most of us, but were forgetting that its an extension of our personality too. I know when I saw the Murano ... I saw me. Fun and stylish! All the knick-knacks that came with it was just too fabulous for words. The drive is smooth like buttah (thanks Barbra!).

  • 2005 Nissan Murano SL AWD with Touring - 2005 Nissan Murano

Bought mine back in Jan. 2005. SL AWD with touring package at $33500 plus tax. Driver seat sqeaks, and window glass make noise when I drive over speed bumps. I think it might be loose. Interior door handle feel like that they might be falling off very soon. I would not buy this vehicle again if I can start over. My next car will be made in AMERICA.

  • Overjoyed with the car - 2009 Nissan Murano

Was looking for a 7-pass vehicle but was so impressed I had to get the Murano. Test drove the Tribecka and Veracruz and chose the Murano for its roominess. Gave up 4 MPG but even at $4 a gallon Im in awe. Have all options except Nav and love it. Comfortable leather seats. Great Bose stereo. Hands-free is exceptional. Display is easy to read. Almost too many choices.

  • CAN YOU BE IN LOVE WITH A SUV? CUZ I AM! - 2004 Nissan Murano

This suv has everything I was looking for and more! Highly recommended! Being 510" and crouching into a Civic killed by back so this is great! Decent gas mileage, but I didnt expect it to do wonders especially coming from a small car to a SUV.

  • Elegant Performance - 2004 Nissan Murano

The Nissan Murano is hands down the best vehicle that Ive ever owned. The styling is unique and elegant. Performance is on par with larger SUVs with larger engines. The fit and finish is excellent and the materials are top notch. Ive had my Murano for almost six months and have not experienced even the slightest of problems. Nissan has gone a long way in ensuring that this vehicle is on par with its upscale and more expensive competition. In my opinion, anyone looking for a midsized, luxury SUV owes it to themselves to take a look at the Murano. I assure you that it compares favorably with the BMW X3, Mercedes Benz M and the Lexus RX.

  • Eds new Murano experience - 2004 Nissan Murano

This is our first new car/SUV. It has all the room and power a young couple with one child needs (Im 511"). We love the leg room and the interior design. It has a wide stance that encourages confidence. Suspension is just right (a bit sporty but not too stiff). It recently came #2 in roll- over rating. Engine power is not brutish, very smooth and more than adequate for a normal human being (if you need/want faster, get a sports car).

  • My Murano - 2004 Nissan Murano

I waited over a year to buy my Murano and know that I have it, I cant believe I waited so long. The dealership was great to work with. I only have one complaint about the Murano so far - color selections. I would have liked my Murano in Red or Mauve. However, I settled on Polished Pewter.

Ive driven nearly all of the vehicles in this class: Mercedes M Class, Acura MDX, Toyota Highlander, 4Runner, RX300. Pilot, Envoy, Trailblazer, Grand Cherokee, Rover, etc. and rate the Murano the best overall vehicle in this class regardless of cost. You owe it to yourself to drive this one if you are considering a civilized SUV that is beautiful, functional, gets great fuel mileage. Its a roomy as a Pilot, drives more like a car and sets a new standard for this class of vehicle.

  • Great Buy - 2009 Nissan Murano

Great SUV. It is tremendously smooth and it has a ton of power. It certainly ranks up there with all the other luxury SUVs out there without being priced as high. The interior is roomy and comfy while the exterior is just flat out hot. Love the fact that it has a back up camera without actually purchasing the navigation. Push button start is nice but I dont like the fact that I cant listen to my music after it is off. The traditional turn key allowed me listen to my music even with the car off as I can turn the key about three forth of the way. Also wished the aux input was not located behind the center console. Cant comment on the fuel economy as my Murano still needs to break in.

  • Jack of all trades - 2009 Nissan Murano

Read over hundred editor/customer reviews on the Murano. Read and drove all the usual suspect comparisons. It came down to the CX9 (very good suv) but for our needs it was too big. We liked the Muranos size and we didnt require a huge amount of storage space. We use this as an everyday commuter vehicle and staying within the speed limits get about 23miles per gallon highway. The Murano does everything well but not great. Its certainly not a luxury suv, sporty or hockey mom suv but it does all those things adequately. While some decry CVT we found it to be one of the Muranos stronger points. We hope Nissan does not add a 3rd seat as there is stil a market place for a true mid-size suv.
