Model Overview:

The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.

New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

Weve driven our new Murano for a week now and every day we love it more. The safety features, comfort and style of the vehicle are all designed with the consumer in mind. TWO thumbs up!

I bought my Murano in late March. I drive a lot for my job, and needed something comfortable, reliable that does well in the snow as I live in Colorado. I love the design of the Murano, and so far Im happy. Its everything I was looking for. I have a Bose stereo, and it doesnt sound as good as I thought it would, but it serves its purpose. I love to drive it, and my friends love to get in it and be driven around. I think its a great car. Havent had the chance to drive it in snow, so I guess Ill have to wait until winter and put it through the real test. The intelligent key is hard to get used to and not sure I like it that much.

  • Too much $$$ for so little sizzle - 2007 Nissan Murano

Had this for a company car and disliked every minute in it. Terrible interior that featured poor display lighting (had to put duct tape over blindingly green colored "brights on" and "cruise activated" lights), back breaking seats if driving over 2 hours at a time, and sluggish performance with the awful CVT transmission. So many other crossovers have passed the Murano by that I cant believe anyone would pay near sticker price for this car. Interior is also noisy at freeway speeds exceeding 65 mph. Interior materials seemed like they were sourced from a Chevy supplier and dash display would be considered acceptable on an 80s era vehicle, not a car costing north of 30k.

We purchased our Murano SL in blue/black and are very happy thus far.We live in New England and we look forward to putting it to the test.Handling is fun and precise. We have noticed that visibility is somewhat challenging on the driver side bar by the side mirror. We have been very impressed with the fit and interior of the car and my kids love it!

  • Getting lots of attention - 2003 Nissan Murano

I now get lots of looks from people who apparently either like or dislike my new Murano. I personally like very much the styling and that is one main reason I purchased it.

  • 45,000 Update - 2010 Nissan Murano
    By -

Still very happy with the vehicle. No repairs just normal maintainence through 45,000 miles. Tires will need a refresh at 50,000. Leather looks brand new. Love the wide cargo area in the back - great for golf clubs. Fun to drive for an SUV. CVT will remain a worry until the newer models show they hold together than the 07 and earlier models.

  • Love my Murano - 2007 Nissan Murano

Ive had my Murano for a year and a half. Love the ride, room and reliability. You must rotate tires ever 5000 miles, I learned the hard way. Little hard on gas 15.5 in L.A. 21-22 on the hyway. Like the back-up cam., great for parking. Heat and air great with the hi speed fan. Great radio, love the sunroof. Leather nice, but I hear the 09 is much better. Brakes do squeak in reverse,I knew this when I bought it, it is annoying. Headlights dont seem to be to bright on low beam no matter how you adjust them. Ride is good a little hard, but still not bad, handles great. 4wd works great and will go threw some deep snow, Im from Maine. Love unlocking the car without the key and starting it.

  • Smooth ride, quiet interior - 2007 Nissan Murano
    By -

I bought this car mainly for my wife, but I do enjoy driving it because the ride is very quiet and smooth. Acceleration is nice and road noise on the highway is minimal. I dont like that the steering is very resistive to turn, and the auto headlight sensor basically needs pitch black light to turn on. Overall a great car with a nice interior, soft ride, and great visibility. The nav unit with birds eye view is nice, but lack of touchscreen and the small function knob make it a bit difficult to manage. Bose sound not as great as advertised either. Fuel economy is typically average ~19mpg 50/50 city/hwy. Car is not for sport enthusiasts though. Very comparable to RX 350.

  • Love it so far - 2004 Nissan Murano

Just bought it, so the Reliability score is meaningless. Its fun to drive though, and doesnt feel like an SUV. The SEs 6 speed "manual" shift option gives you more control of performance in that you can use the shifter rather than the gas pedal to control the RPM. The gas mileage is great for an SUV, but the rated 20 city will be hard to achieve - with spirited driving youll easily fall as low as 16-17.

  • Recommend!! - 2004 Nissan Murano
    By -

I highly recommend this vehicle!! I have owned my Murano for 7 months now and have not one complaint yet and I am a tough customer in the automotive business. I can actually go on a roadtrip with my family and noone is fighting for the front seat, rear seats recline and have plenty of leg room!!! It is really fun to drive, has great power and great space, very functional plus luxurious.
