Model Overview:

The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.

New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

We chose the Murano for its styling and sports car like ride. When we compared with the Rx330 we could not see spending $4ooo more for tye lexus name. Boy do we get compliments on our Muranos looks.

Edmunds Price Promise is the way to go removes haggling quite a bit but some negotiating still for dealer add-ons. The visibility to judge the front corners of the vehicle is poor due to the styling humps in the front hood. Love everything else about the Murano styling is great and feels like it will remain relevant for years! This has to be one of the best value for what you get in a mid size SUV bar none.

  • Murano = More for your Money - 2005 Nissan Murano

Id highly recommend a Murano to anyone looking for a mid-size SUV. It drives like a car (shares its platform with the Maxima and Altima) and gets good gas mileage considering the performance it provides. The CVT makes for an incredibly smooth ride and still allows you to turn low RPMs cruising at 85+ MPH on the highway.

  • Awesome ! - 2007 Nissan Murano

SL, FWD with Touring package. Nothing could go wrong with this decision. After lots of deliberation I got the Murano and I am extremely glad to have made that decision. Drives like a charm... like a big car (not like a heavy truck) which makes it flexible to turn around and drive smoothly. Wonderful sound system - BOSE. Backing camera is an excellent feature that I am still getting used to.

  • Luxury SUV at non-luxury price - 2009 Nissan Murano

I made a great choice by purchasing this car at a great price. Handling is so smooth. The seats are absolutely comfortable. Beautiful interior! I chose this car over the Acura RDX and Lexus RX300.

  • WOW.... - 2005 Nissan Murano

just picked up (April 2, 2005) my new fully loaded 2005 SL AWD black on black. Very nice, very roomy, lots of options, good ride (the SL model), solid, doesnt seem to eat alot of gas. The back up camera is very well thought out of and is very usefull. The navi seems to be a pretty good one also. Traded in a 2003 lincoln ls v8 and this car has even more options then the lincoln while the msrp is $10,000 cheaper. And the intelligent key is pretty cool as well. hope it stays the same for the rest of the 42 month lease. definetely consider this car.

  • Broken Drivers Seat - 2005 Nissan Murano
    By -

Wow! I thought I had bought a fantastic, classy SUV. Always loved the styling. First Nissan. 6 months after I bought the vehicle the driver seat breaks a mount. The seat is flapping in the breeze. I join in a recall campaign with the NHSTA that closes without resolution because not enough people were killed or maimed. Nissan offers some assistance, but almost acts like we should expect failures like this as consumers. Last Nissan!

  • ENGINE BLOWN AT 88,000 MILES! - 2006 Nissan Murano
    By -

Found out yesterday that the vehicle love of my life has dying engine and blown front and rear exhaust manifolds.....estimate for repairs....$13,000! Engine had less than 1/2 quart of oil after 3300 miles since last oil change. Sick to my stomach. Ive loved everything about this SUV and have taken impeccable care of it - mechanically, interior, exterior. Just last week had 2 different friends ask me if I got a new car!

Owned 7 years with 50k mi. Still looks good compared to newer cars. Only problems have been gas cap actuator, driver power window motor, garage door opener in rear view mirror and intermittent hesitation problem during stop/start. After dealer performed last recall to replace intake fasteners hesitation problem was cured. Glad it was not transmission. I believe someone posted that Nissan extended the CVT transmission warranty to 10yrs/100k mi. Overall it has gotten me from A to B without any problems but I would have not expected to have these little things break down with such low miles.

  • Best car for the money - 2009 Nissan Murano
    By -

Great car. Handles very well on the road. Drives and feels very stable, just like the Altima and Maxima. The car is actually fairly wide, and that makes it feel even more stable. Takes a bit of time getting used to it, but it is not a disadvantage. Driver has a lot more visibility on the road thanks to the high seating position inside the car. The engine is very responsive in all situations. Breaks are also responsive without being too touchy. There is plenty of space for a family of 5 inside this vehicle. This model comes well equipped and avoids including many of the useless bells and whistles other SUVs have. The standard options are just what is needed without being pretentious.
