Not satisfied with the current crop of crossover SUVs? Nissan rolls out the newest car-based SUV, the Murano. It boasts a powerful V6 engine and distinctive styling.

Pros:
  • Very good use of interior space, unique styling inside and out, smooth and powerful engine.
Cons:
  • No third-row seating, SE model rides harshly, gets pricey with options.

We replaced a luxury car and an SUV with the Murano and have been very pleased with our choice. We take many long day trips to see our son play lacrosse in college and the Murano has been a great performer. It is roomy for people and luggage. The Bose sound system is great.

This is a roomy midsize suv with lots of space in the back, legroom , headroom. No third seat row( which I did not want (Sorry I am not the darn chaffeur for the neighbor kids. The cargo area is easy to access and can be easy extended by lifting a couple slings in the back, the back seat folds down flat and you could easy transport larger items. This car has a great design and it is modern, what I like best. I have driven in many cars from Mercedes, VW and BMW( not to mention the ugly Explorer)And this one is my very favorite. The ride is a thrill and the price is fair.

  • Great Urban SUV! - 2003 Nissan Murano

I just purchased my Murano 4 days ago and I am quite pleased with it. I had a Toyota Tacoma which was a great truck, but now I feel like Im riding in luxury. This vehicle is very classy & sporty. Ive gotten dozens of compliments. I also had great service at Baker-Jackson Nissan in Houston. I made a great choice!

Sold our 2001 Mercedes C-320 for this vevicle. It is a decision we have not regretted. All the luxury of the MBZ with Nissans dependability and lower price. (We also own a trouble-free 01 Xterra). Love the sound system and the vehicles comfort. Why buy the Infiniti? A wiinner!

  • BEWARE: 2003 Murano Tranny is a Lemon! - 2003 Nissan Murano
    By -

I bought an 03 Murano 62k miles on it. Beautiful, lots of features, pretty good MPG. Unfortunately, within a month or two I experienced the "bunny hop." In stop-and-go traffic, I first noticed the acceleration was sluggish. Then, after each complete stop, it was dangerously unresponsive - creeping along at a couple of mph. Then the engine figured out it was going too slow, it revved up and jumped forward. I could have rear-ended someone. Read other reviews and you will see that I am not alone. THIS IS A DANGEROUS CAR! It broke my heart because I loved my Murano. But I was tired of worrying that my transmission would either blow out or, worse, injure someone.

  • You have to give this SUV a look! - 2003 Nissan Murano
    By -

We test the Honda Pilot, Toyota Hilander, Acura MDX, and Chevy Tahoe. Then we looked at the Murano, and instantly fell in love. Nissan just took a SUV that could have a third row seat and left it out to give more room for the first and second row. My wife and I are tall, and this SUV has tons of leg room in the front and back seats. If you are in the market for a mid to large SUV, you owe it to yourself to at least give the Murano a look. I am concerned out buying a first generation car, but I have a feeling the price will go up on these. Get one before they get HOT.

  • Murano SUV as good as the glass - 2003 Nissan Murano
    By -

Murano, the glass, is made in an small island off Venice. Unique, beautiful and high valued, it is a perfect name for Nissans classy urban SUV. After 2 years of owner ship, I have no complaints whatsoever. It put to good use the 3 letters: Sport - accelarates, handles an brakes like a sports car; Utility - plenty of room for an average family of 4; Vehicle - in the sense that it does not look like or handles like a truck. But its style is not for all: it does demand a higher degree of design appreciation than most folks have...

  • Way to Go, Nissan! - 2003 Nissan Murano

We have about 2000 miles on our Murano and absolutely love it! It turns a lot of heads, but its beauty is more than skin deep. The engine is quiet and powerful, the transmission is great and the gas mileage isnt bad for an AWD vehicle this size. (Gets 24 mpg on highway as advertised)Test drove the Toyota Highlander, but this vehicle outscores the Toyota in every category.

  • Itll Make You Smile! - 2003 Nissan Murano
    By -

Ive had a big smile on my face since I bought this SUV! You will too! Nissan has an excellent product. One of the best vehicles Ive ever driven. Drives and rides very smooth for an SUV..the best of all I test drove. Very fun! Be ready to get lots of compliments and gazes! EPA fuel economy is accurate after a few tanks if you use premium gas and dont be forceful.

  • Very Impressive - 2003 Nissan Murano
    By -

We traded our 2002 Altima V-6 for the Murano (black) and havent regretted it since. This SUV lives up to its billing. Gas mileage is good considering all the other SUV mpgs but not up to specs. It has power as well. The transmission is awesome (so smooth!!!)I am still exploring all the gadgets. (We purchased everything we could for this car: Leather pkg, sunroof, cargo cover and mat, etc...) rear seats recline (cool)then fold flat for cargo space.
