Model Overview:

The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.

New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

  • Collision result - 2009 Nissan Murano

We hit a deer at 70MPH with our 2009 Murano. Both airbags went off. If I would not have had my foot on the dash (bad habit of mine) we would not have had any injuries. However the airbag broke my ankle in two places, leg and toe. We feel safe in our Murano - will never put feet on dash again. We love all our features, nav system, heated seats, Bose radio, etc but when it comes right down to the basics - buy this car for the safety rating. We are glad we did.

Very distinctive styling led me to the Murano. Great gas mileage due to the CVT. Horrible ride for a vehicle in this class. Noisy and VERY harsh on even the slightest bumps.

  • Awesome just about covers it - 2010 Nissan Murano
    By -

I purchased this vehicle at the end of 2010 and was torn between the 10 or 11. Because of the incentives that were being offered on the 10 I was able to get a loaded 10 vs 11 for even less money. I was deciding between the new Ford Edge and this one and glad I picked the Murano. It is a GREAT vehicle and the more I drive it the more I love it. I have never had a Nissan and I am really impressed with it and the way it was put together. It def. has the power and performance for a SUV, and doesnt feel like I am driving a boat. I have only put about 100 miles on it so far, so time will tell.

  • Great SUV - 2005 Nissan Murano

SUV has alot of pep! Handles well. Great interior package (mine has leather and navigation system). Good sound system. Fuel economy could be better, averaging 17 miles per gallon for city travel.

  • Love This Car/Suv - 2006 Nissan Murano

We have had our Murano for only one week. I have only driven it about 300 miles. The little I have driven it I relly love it. I can definitely tell the Nissan quallity. Vehicle rides very smooth and is very quiet. Automatic AWD is great. The CVT transmission really gives the vehicle a smooth and quiet ride. Cant feel the trans shift at all. So far my all around gas mileage is about 20 mpg. Also feel very safe driving this vehicle.

Our first Nissan (silver/black leather) Looked at all other SUV and crossover vehicles, dollar for dollar the Murano cant be beat. If your looking for style(head turner), performance( quick and smooth), and quality(solid), this one is for you.

I love the car. I had a few problems with it at first. The CD changer (single cd) was changed 3x before it would stop eating cds. The steering controls stopped working and a fuel injector went out after 1 month. Not major since the car had 55k miles when purchased. Some controls feel cheap. The gas tank door would not unlock, door locks sometimes stick. I havent had any problems in the last 10 months. very pleased, not so pleased with the customer service at the dealership but its getting better. They do not take care of the car, several scratches on the dash and radio due to their carelessness during service.

  • Great Luxury Ride! - 2007 Nissan Murano
    By -

After researching and test driving most of the crossover SUVs and Sedan AWD vehicles on the market, I found the Murano the best in both luxury feel, modern styling, and wanted options. Plenty of leg and head room for a tall person and awesome comfortable, heated, memory seats with lumbar. The nav system is easy to operate and fun to use. I love that I had a choice between XM or Sirius. The cruise is on the steering wheel and so easy to use. The back seats recline with a touch. I really love this vehicle!!!

  • 8 months of fun and no problems yet - 2003 Nissan Murano
    By -

Ive had this vehicle for 8 months now (~7200 miles) and have experienced no problems. Fun to drive, the back seats are very roomy and the passengers love the recline option. Sound system is top notch (Bose), although the reception could be better (94 Taurus got better reception in the same areas) - probably a result of the stubby antenna. Nice acceleration, smooth ride. With half city/half highway, I have been averaging 18.6 mpg. I have the FWD (not AWD) and didnt notice any major difficulties navigating through the snowy Chicago streets the past winter. I hope this review helps anyone thinking of buying a Murano.
