Model Overview:

The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.

New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

This car has a droning noise at 1800. - 1900 RPM. I find it to be annoying. Nissan says it is an exhaust tuning issue that is normal. I drove a 2003 Murano SL for 165,000 miles and never had to listen to it drone at highway cruising speed. I am sorry I made this purchase. The only improvement over the 2003 is the back-up camera.

I traded in my 03 Murano for an 04 Maxima SL! What a difference. The design of the Murano was what sold me on the vehicle; the lousy gas mileage and horror stories re:front end problems made me trade for a Maxima after one cross-country trip. Two dealers confirmed that there were numerous complaints about the Muranos gas mileage; I think the "new" transmission was a key factor. The best mileage I ever got with the Murano was 17; with the Maxima, I never get less than 22 and up to 32mpg.

Just had this vehicle 10 days, and I love it! Great looking, attracts looks everywhere. Contrary to what I have read, the CVT is awesome. Smooth, powerful. It amazes my friends. Had satellite radio installed, also awesome, works through the dash monitor. Gas mileage 22+ in mixed driving. Very quiet.

  • Excelent Choice!!!!! - 2009 Nissan Murano

I had a 2004 Nissan Murano. It was an excelent car but I decided to change it for a new one. I looked at others SUV from different brands like Lexus RX350, Volvo XC60, Mazda CX-7, and Audi Q5. I tested all of them(excellent SUVs)and The Murano SL 360 was the winner. For $30,000 (you can get it at this price) you get a lot of excellent features paying less money than the others brands I mentioned before (except CX-7 which is inferior in quality) The Murano has an excellent interior design with blue tooth, leather, rear view camera, 6 cds charge, Ipod conexion, moonroof, etc. The exterior design is stunning. Acceleration and stability are amazing. Try it you will enjoy it. I think Nissan is Quality

  • Nice Car, BUT........................... - 2003 Nissan Murano

I purchased this car used with only 18,500 miles on it and got a great price and the first year was fantastic.Great gas mileage 20/25, fun 2 drive, roomy then at the anniversary of my purchase coming back from a trip to NC with 45,500 miles on the car the transmission went out.Who would think a car would have transmission issues at 45,000? I would never think of such a thing but it did. Yes it was still under warranty BUT can I trust it to go on trips again? NO! I am a previous owner of a 95 nissan pathfinder that never had an issue and I drove it for 215,000 miles.Thought nissan was a reliable vehicle told all my friends to buy a nissan now I am not sure anymore..Very Disappointed in NISSAN

I drive hilly two-lane state highways, country roads, small towns, and some interstate. I attained 20.1 mpg on regular gas by managing the RPMs while driving. The handing is excellent. It is hard to believe it is a 2-ton truck. However, this suspension does bring a price on country roads. My truck picked up a rattle on the passenger side after 100 miles. However, on relatively smooth roads, you dont hear any rattle.

Have owned Ford products for the past 30 years. Guess what? I am changing to the Nissan products. Simple as that! Although I will still own and buy a Mustang Convertible. I am totally pleased with the 2005 Murano. Couldnt be more pleased!

  • My "DREAM" SUV... - 2006 Nissan Murano

This new automatic transmission is the best on a long trip...Went from S.F to Las Vegas...breezed through without getting that "tired of driving" feeling. Actually got there before we knew it...doesnt tire you out...fun to drive and a beauty to behold...I love this SUV...Ive got that new charchol color with the cabernet leather interior...WOW, do I get the looks!!! Everyone wants to look at the inside too!! It makes me happy to get into it after a hard day at work, the color is so bright and cheerful!!!.....The mileage could be better...19 mpg but it is worth it!!! A positive 10!!!

  • My Murano - 2004 Nissan Murano

I love my car. I have had 2 other Nissan vehicles prior to this. An Altima and a Maxima, and I think that the Murano drives, and rides better than either one. I highly recommend this vehicle to all that are interested in a suv.
