Model Overview:

The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.

New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

Rear visiblilty is the only problem that I have. You learn to adjust and know how to see around the problems.

  • VERY Happy. - 2010 Nissan Murano

Went to Toyota, Mitsubishi, Honda and Audi. But fell in love with the Murano. Sure it is a bit expensive to run (at least compared to my previous Nissan X-Trail), but it really pays back. Im just so happy with the quality and performance. If you dont really need a hardcore offroader, then this is an excellent pick.

  • Get in and GO... - 2004 Nissan Murano

The Nissan Murrano is a unique vehicle. This vehicle not only stands out in a croud, but its performance is truly unequalled. I have found that the CTV definantly makes the difference both in fuel economy and performance. In addition, I constantly have to check the speedometer. With no shifting "kicks" this vehicle will just get up and go, this is alot of weight to move, and it does it superbly. This is not a 300 or 350Z, but I tell you, once it is going it is gone.... The controls and instruments are set just right for the reach. I enjoy the steering wheel controls, they are awesome. Im sure the designers will have a heck of a time trying to replace it with future models.

  • I Love My Car - 2004 Nissan Murano

I bought this vehicle last May 2003. The performance has been absolutely great. It is easy to handle. Very confortable with the lumbar in the drivers seat. We have driven for at least 500 miles in one day and come off the trip feeling fine and not exhausted. It has not caused me a minute of worry. We have had it serviced several times with oil change and that is all that I have invested in one year except gas of course. I seem to get 24 miles to the gallon in city driving. The leather has held up great.

As an owner of 4 previous Nissan products, 3 Maximas and 1 Pathfinder, this is the best of the best.It is more comfortable than the Maxima and as versatile as the Pathfinder. It drives and handles like a dream.

  • Overall good, but... - 2009 Nissan Murano

Great overall vehicle. The interior styling and comfort are excellent. The stylish exterior is very nice. Sound system and controls are top of the line (except the driver will never hear the 2 subwoofers in the rear). I love the auto headlights and wipers! The 160 MPH speedometer is counter productive - the distance from 50 to 60 mph is like a centimeter, making it hard to pin point 55 mph. The low end acceleration is WEAK. Like many car magazine tests, 0-60 cannot be reached in 8 seconds (more like 9.5 to 10). Mileage is 16 MPG for me driving mostly city. Great vehicle if you can accept the poor acceleration and mileage.

  • need more safety - 2005 Nissan Murano

We recently purchased our 2005 Nissan Murano SL. We are enjoying the ride. Wish that it got better gas mileage. However, more so than that I wish that it had automatice door locks. We didnt notice this when test driving...actually I assumed it had this feature since older vehicles that we own do have this nice safety feature. When talking to our sales person he informed me that no Nissans have auto door locks. I believe this would be a great addition in future years. In the meantime I am training myself to lock the doors when I get in.

I test drove 6 mid-size suvs, toyota highlander, honda pilot, the vw v6 unit, lexus 300, infinity v6 unit and the mitsubichi. For the money, performance, interior, exterior, quality and so far reliability, Nissan gets 110% job well done. The closes to the Murano was the Infinity v6, off course is the same platform.

  • Awful Options Packaging - 2003 Nissan Murano
    By -

There I was all set to plop down hard money for the new Murano SL AWD. The car handled like a smart sedan and had the styling and utility of the very best out there. However, when it came to ordering the only option I wanted (leather seats) I was introduced to an options requirement that ran the charge for the leather seats to over four grand. Porsche doesnt even get away with this much of gouge! I actually had to order a sun roof just to get leather.
