Model Overview:

The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.

New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

  • Disappointed - 2004 Nissan Murano

Purchased in 2004. Happy with the overall look and performance. Did not buy it for gas milege just wanted a safe vehicle for wifey. Check engine light stays on due to a bad Catalytic Convertor. Which in subsequent models was repaired. This causes the engine to burn oil because of particle blowback. The only sensible repair is a new engine. About 2-3 quarts every 2K miles. Driver side seat panels and arm rest cracked and peeled apart. During hot weather the door locks stick. Have to hold the unlock button and let the windows roll down to get in. The gas tank door opener stop working. I just disconnected from the system versus paying $300 for the part. Cannot wait to part with.

  • Great car comfortable - 2009 Nissan Murano

We had a 05 Murano, it was definitely roomier than our 08. The drivetrain is a little quirky. But it gets up and moves very very quickly. The sound system in this car is the best Ive ever heard for stock. It is very balanced and very powerful. The heated seats are wonderful, the ride seems to only improve with time. The seats are very comfortable for long trips with less fatigue than other cars--I like the upright sitting position. This car is very luxurious, leather, the air conditioning seems to work much better than our 05. Maybe its the silver exterior vs. navy blue both with the black interior, but that 05 was beastly hot and hard to cool down in summer.

This is a great crossover SUV. Ride is great, handling is more sporty than most others in class. Standard features list is impressive. Room inside will shock you. Lots of power on tap. CVT is nice but takes a little snap away from an otherwise strong drivetrain. Manuverability is excellent. Interior feels very rich and luxurious. Definitley look at this vehicle in your search.

  • This is a great vehicle! - 2005 Nissan Murano

The Murano has to be the best value on the road. I leased my Murano in February of 2005 for a great price! It drives like a car (handling, acceleration) and has the storage and off-road capabilities of an SUV. I previously owned a Nissan Xterra SE and my wife had purchased a 2004 Nissan Maxima SL in the fall of 2003. I loved the way the Maxima drove, but I needed the cargo space and the Murano was the perfect fit. I also looked at the Acura MDX, BMW X3 and the Volvo XC90, but the Murano was a far better value.

  • Take a Long Ride before Buying - 2010 Nissan Murano

Dont be smitten by the beautiful good looks of this vehicle, because it is nice to look at. Instead concentrate on the seat comfort, because in the end that will be very important. Not only are the seats very hard but also, for short legged people like my wife and I (under 56"), the fact that the front of the seats (both front seats are power-seats) are not allowed to drop down far enough creates a very uncomfortable amount of pressure on the undersides of your legs. The back seats are very hard also. Like all of the newer vehicles the head rests protrude too far forward, and for those (like me) who like to lean back in their seat this creates another uncomfortable intrusion.

  • Talk about Gratification! - 2003 Nissan Murano

I have never been more excited with a vehicle purchase in my life. All I want to do is drive, drive, drive! Wish I could afford to buy another. This is the greatest vehicle Ive ever owned. I love it so much, cant wait to tell someone else when they see it for the first time.

  • Love this SUV!!! - 2003 Nissan Murano

My traded her Infiniti I-30 for this SUV. She and I both love it. It is fun to drive, has plenty of power, and the AWD was a big selling feature. Since we live in the mountains, the AWD for winter weather and the SE suspension system were a must.

  • Only had it a month but I love it. - 2003 Nissan Murano

Being a gadget lover, this car more than meets my expectations. Ive spent my first month of ownership trying to test all the features - so far, so good and I still have things to test. Ive also been very impressed because, so far, I have nothing for the dealer to correct when I take it in for its first service.

  • Fantastic Car - 2003 Nissan Murano

My wife and I search high and low for the perfect vehicle for the best price...very, very happy with our Murano! My co-worker with the BMW SUV cringed when I told him the features and the price.

I needed a daily driver to haul kids around occasionally and to run errands (sports car wasnt quite up for all that). I compared to Acura RDX, Toyota Rav4, Highlander, Lexus RX330, and Honda Pilot. The Murano LE came out on top for following reasons: 1) Price was reasonable. 2) Smart Key... this is awesome. 3) Bluetooth 4) Navigation is terrific 5) BAckup camera. 6) iPod connection. 7) Stereo with LE is terrific. Driving is easy, I feel in control, handling is excellent.
