Model Overview:

The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.

New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

  • Impressive (almost) luxury crossover - 2004 Nissan Murano

When I first saw the Nissan Murano, I had no intentions of buying a new vehicle. But when I took a test drive, I immediately fell in love with its unique styling and great handling. My mom tells me the engine sounds like a cow "moo-ing" but I love it when I have to speed up when I enter the freeway and it does so with great ease.

  • Best car weve owned - 2004 Nissan Murano

When my wife saw the car in the November 02 issue of House Beautiful Magazine she had to have it! Never mind that it was my turn to get a car. We got to test dive one in January 03 and ordered hers. We got the car in March. Sunlite Copper w/cabernet interior just like the ad. Its frustrating to me that I will research a car for ever trying to pick the perfect one only to have my wife pick the best car we have owned from a magazine ad. Figures.

The look threw me off at first. But I drove it and fell in love. It rides quite comfortably and is such great fun to drive. Ive owned it for just over a year and never had any problems at all. It travels well. We have gone on several trips and been VERY comfortable. It has a V6 engine with a heart. When you need extra power...its there. I tell everyone who asks that I love my car and they should test drive one.

Silent motor...no road noise. A bit hesitant when flooring it, but it moves!

  • Watch the Navi System! - 2004 Nissan Murano

Overall, I have really enjoyed this car, however, I have had the entire navigation system replaced not once, but twice, in 10 months. They cant tell me why it keeps going out, but said they cant find anything (a short) on the car itself to cause the problem. The car drives great, the sound system is great and I really like the transmission... no "jerking" as it changes gears. Gas mileage has been pretty good (compared to some reviews Ive seen) about 20-21.

  • Surpassed my expectations - 2006 Nissan Murano

It was my dream car, and it really has been a great experience. Its fun to drive. I got the SE model at the end (was planning on SL) and love it. Though more common nowadays, it still makes people gawk. Very spacious, and the power delivered when you push the pedal is amazing, with no transmission jerking.

I have had an excellent experience with this car. I bought it brand new off the lot and ran like a dream for 6 years. I plan to trade it in and buy another brand new one!

  • I feel so cool - 2009 Nissan Murano

Had a Nissan Pathfinder traded it in for a Murano because Pathfinders are too big now. Feel really good about my decision. 2009 model looks really slick exterior and interior. VERY comfortable for a larger guy like me 63 200lb. Rides like a dream. Was originally looking at Mazda CX-7. CX-7 would have been slightly less $ but the difference is large. Very quiet ride and unbelievable comfort. Love the CVT. I go the leather interior with are very soft and comfy, especially when compared with its competitors. Look and feel of inside and outside as good if not better than some much more pricey Acura, Lexus, BMW models I looked at (briefly) for $10,000 less.

  • Amazing Sports Truck - 2004 Nissan Murano

Fast!!!! while using the 6 speed auto- CVT my SE Murano can zip from 0-60 in under 6.7 seconds. Just as fast as my wifes Infiniti G35. A best buy!!!! Definitely get the SE over the SL for better performance.

  • Quietest Ride for under $50,000 - 2009 Nissan Murano
    By -

Leased RX 330 + RX 350 for the last six years. Spent last two months testing all brands to try and find something better for less $$. Low road noise important - I have hearing damage. Tried everything to $50,000,and the Murano and the TIGUAN were the two most quiet cars using decibel meter on common stretch of highway at 60 MPH measured at drivers left ear and middle of car interior. Mercedes and BMW were both louder by 2-3 db and worse gas mileage. Murano quiet as the Lexus identical db stats even with LE 20 inch wheels. Rented SL for 2 weeks louder than LE by 1 db! MPG 1 less than Lexus. Venza 4 db louder! 2010 RX530 NOT quieter than previous year. Murano lease 2/3 $ Lexus - loaded to max!
