Model Overview:

The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.

New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

  • I Love This SUV - 2003 Nissan Murano

I got a fully loaded Murano about a month ago and have no real complaints. The fuel economy is not great, but what can anyone expect from an SUV. The styling is fabulous. The acceleration is fantastic--I just love the CVT. The interior is very comfortable and the ride very smooth. I dont really use the navigation system that often, but when I need it, it really comes in handy. If all you have seen is the pictures and like the look but wonder if the rest of the vehicle matches up--dont worry. It does--and then some.

Excellent vehicle ! We had our first child last year and wanted something with stlye, room, fuel economy, and AWD. We didnt want to spend over $40,000 to do it (or get a mini van). We spent far less than that and couldnt be happier on all points.

I took the Murano for a test drive and was so impressed by it that i went and got my wife to drive it. My wife didnt want another car yet because she like her car so well, but after she drove the Murano it was all she talked about. We got the car and we both have been so pleased with it that everybody that drives it wants one. Bob R.

  • Great car, watch our for shortcomings - 2004 Nissan Murano

First thing I want to say is that this SUV handles better than a vehicle this large and high should. The interior space is good. This car is wider than most of the competition so that translates into passenger comfort. I am disappointed in the gas mileage department; in the city I am lucky to get over 14 mpg. On the highway I get about 19. The suspension is too stiff, a bad compromise between controlled ride and comfort. Good power. I loved the design of this car wind/road noise needs to improve, a softer suspension and the space between the front seats and console is a trap for dropped papers, coins and cell phones.

  • Impressive and fun to drive - 2003 Nissan Murano

My wife and I analyzed cars with a similar features for 6 months. Test drove many (Volvo, BMW, Acura). We repeatedly returned to the Nissan dealer to have another look at the Murano. Eventually we decided it was the best choice for the money and that the others were not worth the extra 8K. And, we really enjoy the car. The Bordeau exterior is a real eye catcher.

  • Best of both worlds - 2003 Nissan Murano

Half Sports Car Half suv, best of both worlds. Love the aggressive body style and the 18 inch wheels. Utility.

We just purchased this "truck" for my wife and have absolutely no complaints. The Murano replaces a VW Jetta, so we love all of the space, but the Murano does not feel huge. It is larger than the small utes like the CRV that we looked into, but not as much as the Pilot or 4Runner. It fits us perfectly. The interior is awesome and the exterior gets looks from almost every passer-by. So far, we couldnt be happier.

  • I Love my Murano - 2004 Nissan Murano

I have had my Murano about 6 months. I love everything about it. It drives like a dream and has the creature comforts that I have become accustomed to. The acceleration and handling are wonderful and I can pile a ton of items in the trunk area. I really like the instrumenation layout and find it futuristic in design. It is somewhat novel looking but I enjoy being a little different. I really havent found anything I havent liked about it. I was originally looking at the Pathfinder, Highlander and Envoy and I test drove them all. After driving the Murano, I was sold.

The Nissian Murano is the smoothiest, SUV I have ever driven and I have driven a garden varity over the years. The body styling turns heads everywhere you go, the interior leather is the most comfortable I have Sat in and I have Sat in the finest,as a matter of fact I have a s80 turbo Volvo in the drive way as we speak and a benz both with leather, the volvo comes close. The rest of the interior could be a little more stylish but very duriable and of good quality. the controls are luminated with flair the sound is an awesome 6 disc in dash BOSE. The ride is like none I have expeirenced before and if you have never felt a CVT transmission, Thats just it you wont it glides,Handling is silk
