Model Overview:

The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.

New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

Great fun to drive, power surges from the engine, seats are excellent and really cushion one, it is perfect for someone wanting more room than the RAV4, Escape CX7 but not the bigger SUVs. 18 inch wheels are a bit too big somehow. The Touring package makes it a really smart car. Mine is sunset red with black leather interior. No its not a household removal truck, more a Maxima on stilts. I traded my BMW 530i for this so expectations were high !

On balance love the vehicle. Very comfortable. Would like a little better gas mileage. Bose stereo is fantastic. Environmental control a little weak

I bought the Murano for my wife for Christmas of 04. The Murano has been perfect for her and our grandson. The ease of use and the way the back doors open wide makes it so nice.

  • Love it!!! - 2016 Nissan Murano

I bought a 2016 Murano SL last week and I love it! It has all the bells and whistles, quiet, bose stereo system, comfortable. However, Im not jazzed about the gas mileage, but I knew it would not be as good as my Acura TSX. This is my first Nissan and Im pleasantly surprised. I highly recommend this SUV.

  • Murano Observations after One Month - 2003 Nissan Murano

Absolutely love it. Replaced the trusty 1997 Toy RAV4 with this and never looked back. Great handling. Good hwy power. Lots of room. Great sound system. Would recommend it to anyone, especially in the Pearl White color.I have a BMW X5 and the Murano handles very similar, has about the same power and has much more creature comforts than the X5 for $10,000 less!!

  • Wish I could start over - 2005 Nissan Murano

Bought new in 2005 and after 3 years was angry about purchase. How many recalls can one vehicle have?? So many interior rattles that I cant hear myself think. Squeaking brakes dont help much. When the exterior door handle FELL OFF, after 5 years ownership,I gave in. I thought Id pass this expensive vehicle on to my daughter, but love her too much.

  • Horrible cloth seats - 2003 Nissan Murano

The cloth seats are the worst ever. They inflict pain and discomfort. Leather package should be available by itself, not forced on top of two other packages.

I love this car but a 53,000 miles driver seat is not working, the repair is more than $1,000.00; same thing happened with the power window; only 3 windows are working and I need to get the master power window, and brakes have some sound, I went to the mechanic and he told me that they are fine. So now I dont know where this sound is coming from. w

  • love it / hate it - 2005 Nissan Murano
    By -

I still love the look of this vehicle, the comfort and the ride (when it is working properly) However, I have had to replace the entire exhaust system, 2 wheel bearings, numerous tie rod ends, breaks, calipers and discs, VDC sensor at over $300, and I cant even remember all the other things. Now I have a broken drivers seat, rear wiper motor died, and another tie rod end. This is over $1,000. Not to mention the tires are replaced every year at a cost of $1,000. It is at the dealers every month minimum of $500 every time and I am sick of it!
