Model Overview:

The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.

New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

  • Just like its namesake - 2004 Nissan Murano

Its a reflection of beauty just like its namesake. The Nissan Murano is a wonderful sculpture turned into a reality, with enough features to keep someone looking for an ample SUV happy (and then some). Ive had this car since April 2003, and at 15,000 miles, Ive had no problems with it. The comfort and interior design is outstanding, has good room for storage in the back, smooth ride, and just an incredible piece of machinery to own. Like many here agree, its the one of the best cars that one can purchase for him/herself. Outstanding work, Nissan. Bravo.

This is a great all- weather, long distance , comfortable car. Over the years weve owned a lot of cars, theyve all had their strong points and weak points; the Murano seems to combine all the good attributes in one package while minimizing the negative issues. This is the only car my wife has ever fallen in love with.

  • LOVING my first SUV - 2012 Nissan Murano

As my kids got bigger I knew my 8 year-old 2-door Solara convertible needed to be replaced. I was looking at the Toyota Venza and Nissan Murano and felt on the major specs, they were very similar. The Muranos luxurious interior was what sealed the deal for me. I got the LE with the Platinum package and while its not as fun to drive as a 2-door sports car, it does just fine on highways and locally in terms of acceleration, cruising, and stopping. It feels SOLID with no shake as trucks whoosh by me. The kids LOVE all the room and the well placed rear vents. Husband loves the toys!

  • Change the Oil and 4 New Tires - 2005 Nissan Murano

I have had a 2004 AWD LS for 13 months and 12,000 miles. Expect to buy new tires--often. Either the Murano has alignment problems or the 18" Goodyear LS tires are junk--and I couldnt find another tire manufacturer that makes the same size tires. I bought my first tire at 11,000 miles and will replace the others in a few thousand miles. This SUV: will lock you out of the car when it feels like it, wheel hops over highway divider strips, has power, is comfortable, looks different, generally handles well, does not rattle unless you leave the seatbelts unlocked, and can get over 20 mpg. I have owned 4 Nissans but will not buy another because of the tires stocked on the Murano.

  • I Sold It After 3 Months! - 2004 Nissan Murano

Purchasing a Murano was not one of my better ideas! The estimated city fuel economy rating in the sales brochure proved to be a figment of Nissans imagination. I got 2/3 of the estimated fuel economy per tank. When I took it in for its first check up, the dealer fixed none of the 3 items I identified. They had "never" heard of its repeated tendency to lock & unlock its doors all by itself, even though this is listed in the Lemon Aid book as a common problem. Driving this vehicle was like driving a luxury "boat", very comfy and quite but nowhere in the realm of fun! It has been replaced by a Mazda 6 Sports Wagon!

  • Very Safe - 2011 Nissan Murano

In was hit on the drivers side by a drunk driver. Thanks to God, my seat belt, and the design of the car, I only received minor injuries. My Murano was declared a total lost. Keep up the good work.

  • Fantastic - 2006 Nissan Murano

We were going to buy a infinite, but decided to get the Murano, and glad we did, we enjoy the space and the ride and comfort. Plus I have had more people ask me what kind of SUV it is and Im so pleased with it I tell them a lot.

  • Near Perfection - 2003 Nissan Murano

Nissan has really outdone them selves with this one! Excellent build quality and attention to details. The outside design is just a work of art - really draws attention where ever you go. All the options one could ever want in a luxury SUV. The 3.5L 245hp engine teamed with the CVT transmission has got to be one of the smoothest out there - just seamless power! The 18" wheels, xenon headlights, navigation system, Bose stereo system, adjustable pedals, heated seats, etc, etc, just add to the pleasure of driving this beautiful vehicle. I think the Murano deserves to be in a class by its self!
