Overview & Reviews
Not satisfied with the current crop of crossover SUVs? Nissan rolls out the newest car-based SUV, the Murano. It boasts a powerful V6 engine and distinctive styling.
- Very good use of interior space, unique styling inside and out, smooth and powerful engine.
- No third-row seating, SE model rides harshly, gets pricey with options.

Liking my new Murano - 2003 Nissan Murano
By Jesus Cervnates - February 21 - 2:00 amThis Vehical is definetly beautiful, inside and out. 245HP engine and 246 pounds of torque. Stays head-to-head with the luxury class. Smooth CVT and Bose system. NICE! Ride quality is exceptional. Minimal road noise on standard 18s. Extremely Happy!!!

If you are thinking of a SUV/Van - 2003 Nissan Murano
By Miles - February 10 - 10:00 amI needed a bigger car that is more versitile than a sedan. I have a child with plans for at least another and need more trunk/room. The Nissan Murano drove like a Maxima SUV, very car like with the versatility of a SUV / Van for space and storage. The gas mileage is equivalant to that of a van. It is Japanese, with one of the best V6 engines. I looked at a few vans and the only ones worth considering were japanese and were roughly the same price as the Murano. I think for the price and all the features you get standard if you are looking for a sedan / SUV / Van the Murano has something to offer everyone!

Blown Engine at 3700 miles!! - 2003 Nissan Murano
By J.S.S. - February 4 - 10:00 amTook the vehicle in for the first oil change at about 3700 miles and left dealer 40 minutes later. Drove about 5 miles and had the engine blow up. About a week later, a brand new engine was installed and found out that a connecting rod had come loose, gone through the oil pan and caused all engine oil to leak out, causing the engine to seize up and blowing a hole in the engine block. Had to argue with the dealer just to get a loaner car while the vehicle was in the shop. I was told Nissan does not give out loaner cars, but eventually one was given to me to drive for 11 days. The dealer was Rosenthal Nissan in Tysons Corner, VA.

Poor fuel economy - 2003 Nissan Murano
By Tom Karelin - February 4 - 10:00 amExcelent car. Great handling. Fun to drive. However , I can not get better then 18.5 mpg on a highway. Also, Id appreaciate more convinient position of the power outlet(cig. lighter). I cant plug in a radar without a wire mess.

Prons & Cons - 2003 Nissan Murano
By jpires - January 9 - 2:00 amGreat handling and smooth ride. Fuel efficiency is best in class with 21 MPG in highway at 75 MPH (probably better at lower speeds). CVT transmission is a definitely plus. Great stability in all types of surfaces, very comfortable and quiet ride.

Paint Problems - 2003 Nissan Murano
By Raleighrebel - December 11 - 2:00 amMy Nissan is Glacier Pearl Whilte. It has been hit twice in the last 3 months and no body shop can correctly match the paint (painted 4 times now)! Even though the Paint Code is on the vehicle there are 6 variations of the color and then the color must be custom blended. Even on the parts that were not damaged there is factory color variation. This makes it next to IMPOSSIBLE to match the paint to the existing body parts! Gas milage is NOT 20/24 its usually 16/20. Fuel sensor is defective occasionaly lights up and says its out of gas when it is not.

A sport sedan in an SUV costume! - 2003 Nissan Murano
By rbridgman - November 21 - 2:00 amIm loving the Murano so far...got an SL with Leather, Cold, and Premium packages, plus sunroof. This car has some amazing technological features and incredible comfort, plus enough headroom for my 64" body, even with the sunroof. Its as tall as my Quest minivan, as long as my Maxima, and has all the best attributes of both.

Dump the vans, try a Murano - 2003 Nissan Murano
By JFELT - November 16 - 10:00 amTwo days old today, and we cant stop driving this Murano. Dealership did a good job, we stressed over buying a Pilot or Murano, and went for the available (better) vehicle. When is Honda going to learn?
