This Year's Model Updates:

Not satisfied with the current crop of crossover SUVs? Nissan rolls out the newest car-based SUV, the Murano. It boasts a powerful V6 engine and distinctive styling.

Pros:
  • Very good use of interior space, unique styling inside and out, smooth and powerful engine.
Cons:
  • No third-row seating, SE model rides harshly, gets pricey with options.

  • Super Murano - 2003 Nissan Murano

Having loved my X-terra, I need something more businesslike. Not wanting to purchase a car, I jumped on edmunds and found the Murano. One test drive is all it took and I knew I had found the perfect vehicle. Part car, part SUV. Its a perfect mix!

  • The Perfec "Dog Owner" car! - 2003 Nissan Murano

Ive had my eye on the Murano since before it was evben released. I was looking for a car that had the room of an SUV, the performance of a sports sedan, and the comfort of a luxury sedan....and it had to be dog friendly (for my 80lb. lab mix). I found all of that, and more, in the Murano. Go test drive every SUV out there....then drive the Murano. My bet is that youll buy the Murano. Ive owned a 00 Maxima SE and a 98 I30....the Muron drives better than both of them.

This is a "homerun" of a vehicle! Strong power, great stereo system, nav system very precise, seats very comfortable, easy to program and drive. Ive driven a BMW 740iL for the last 3 years and while I do miss the power of 8 cylinders, this "machine" is great. The BMW X5 would have cost me nearly $12,000 more and I would have still had manual transmission at that! Way to go, Nissan!

My check engine light came on after a short time after I purchased my vehicle. I carried it back to dealership to have it checked and to have my oil changed and tires rotated being it had approximately 5500 miles on it. I was told it was my gas cap not being put on correctly and I was surprised that I was charged $72. to check my engine light on this new vehicle. Since that time my light has continued to come on and I carried it back and they said if there wasnt something mechanically wrong with my vehicle, I would have to pay to have it checked again. Needless to say, I wasnt going to pay to have it checked again. My light is still coming on!

  • Expensive at 45000 miles - 2003 Nissan Murano

In the last 6 months we have spent nearly$1700 on repairs to this Murano. It would have been more if we had paid the $900 for new motor mounts when the car had done 45,000 miles. The dealer got Nissan to pay for it after a lot of complaining from me. The car has done 51080 miles and 2 months ago we paid $900 for front struts and now $457 dollars for an electric window motor, 50$ for a rear stop light change and $43 for an inspection and oil change. The dealer claims the muffler needs replacing for another $914 and the car need brakes and rotors for another $600. If this is typical, at this mileage, of Nissan products, then they are producing lemons.

In all my life, I never thought I would own an SUV. Whwn I first saw The BMW X, I thought well maybe it is possible to meld the best of the car/ suv worlds but not at that price! Then I see the Murano at the Auto Show in NYC and I dont tell my wife that this Murano seems very different. God ,have I lost my mind???? Well four weeks into ownership, I have to tell you this vehicle is amazing! I think it outperforms my 2000 Maxima in acceleration. It handles well in all aspects. It lloks like a vehicle nobody would ever buils so hats off to nissan!!!

  • Murano is awesome - 2003 Nissan Murano

Nissan Murano is real fun to drive, very easy to handle, gives better gas milage. It offers many luxury features at much lesser price than the competition. Its CVT engine is cool and powerful. The back seats have more leg room, and five passengers can fit into the car very comfortably. Nissan has made good use of the interior and cargo space. Programmable memory seat and adjustable power pedals are kool and simple to use.

  • RIDES LIKE A CAR - 2003 Nissan Murano

I like the way that this vehicle rides. It is more like a car then a truck. The gas milege is 18MPG artound town and 23MPG on the highway. I love the AWD, it has helped me

  • Thrilled with Murano! - 2003 Nissan Murano

We checked every comparable suv including Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander, Lexus RX330, and Acura MDX. The Murano provides the most value and performance for the money. We get stares and questions about it everywhere we go. Performance has been great and wet-weather handling is outstanding! Cant wait for winter to see if this continues. No complaints with fit/finish and dealership experience at Classic Nissan has been outstanding too. Do yourself a favor and check it out.
