This Year's Model Updates:

Not satisfied with the current crop of crossover SUVs? Nissan rolls out the newest car-based SUV, the Murano. It boasts a powerful V6 engine and distinctive styling.

Pros:
  • Very good use of interior space, unique styling inside and out, smooth and powerful engine.
Cons:
  • No third-row seating, SE model rides harshly, gets pricey with options.

  • Like it better than my Jag - 2003 Nissan Murano

A blast to drive-I look foreward to getting into my Murano and driving it. I prefer it to my wifes Jag-anytime! Easy to get in and out and friends cannot believe the amount of leg room in the back. And ,in my opinion, it looks better than any of those "all look the same" boring SUVs on the market(SUVs in its class that is).

I just bought my 2003 Murano SL, spent the entire day driving. WOW! The steering is *very* solid, it has plenty of power, it handles great, and has FANTASTIC comfort. This vehicle completely satisfies my needs for having something stylish, peppy, and practical. The CVT makes acceleration so smooth. It is an absolute dream to drive!

The CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) in the Murano has got to be driven to be appreciated. You can put it on cruise, go up and down hills and never feel the regular "shift shock" weve become accustomed to in regular 4 or 5 gear automatic transmissions. This baby is smoooooth. My kids used to argue about who got to ride up front... not anymore! The person in the back is cruising with lots of room thanks to the ample roominess of the back seat and the reclining feature of the back seat! This car is a joy to drive... the horsepower is responsive with acceleration from take-off to mid- range torque already at cruising speed.

My purchas was decided on the comfort of the seating for my wife on the passanger side --- after my first 250mi. trip I recorded 22.3MPH and everything seems to get better from there

Found this car after searching SUVs for 2yrs. My husband was totally against them because of the Roll Over. Well the Murano proved to be a perfect car for both of us. The Ride is great & so quiet. The CVT is fantastic. We have grandchildren & they all love riding in this car. The Safety factor makes me feel very protected. I would recommend anyone to Test drive this car. We have the Navigation system & that is certainly woth the extra. This is a terrific car.

  • A Crossover Doesnt Get Any Better! - 2003 Nissan Murano

There is not one thing I would change on this vehicle. I just wished I had gotten the AWD, but it wasnt available in the color I wanted when I went to the dealership. I buy a new vehicle every 2 years and I did thorough research and test drove 4 different SUVS, and clearly made the right decision and I say that 14,000 miles later.

  • A lemon - 2003 Nissan Murano

2003 Murano has had nothing but problems. Have replaced hatchback lock, rear wiper motor/blade, transmission, radiator, headlight, transfer case for a total of $6,000. The transmission was still under warranty. If it hadnt, that would have been another $4,000. Powertrain only warrantied to 60,000 so transfer case cost me $3,700. Nissan and dealership refused any assistance on repair cost despite well-documented history of these known problems for this model year. Dealer told me I should have bought the extended warranty when it was offered to me.

  • What More Do You Want? - 2003 Nissan Murano

No one who owns this vehicle would give it less than an eight on a scale of one to ten. Compared to others in its class the design and technology of the Murano surpasses them all. Nissan has done their research and designed a reliable "crossover" vehicle for those of us who enjoy spending time in the outdoors, not driving all over it. The ride and handling of the SL is great -- like a car. Mileage has been at about 20 around town and about 24 highway. Not bad for such a roomy, powerful and solidly built vehicle. TEST DRIVE THE MURANO, then BUY IT! Yeah it isnt cheap, but you get what you pay for.

How can you compare this vehicle to anything else? Well you cant! Nothing even comes close to what the Murano offers. If you love driving cars or spend a lot of time driving, then the Murano is a top choice. I compared over 20 different vehicles from Audis to Volvos including 4 door wagons, sedans and SUVs (sorry no vans!). Nothing will give you a better all around package that will satisfy 99% of your wants and needs for the way the average vehicle is used 99% of the time. Great looks, space, performance, exceptional comfort and fantastic design with amazing attention to detail. Take a look and be prepared to be surprised.
