This Year's Model Updates:

Not satisfied with the current crop of crossover SUVs? Nissan rolls out the newest car-based SUV, the Murano. It boasts a powerful V6 engine and distinctive styling.

Pros:
  • Very good use of interior space, unique styling inside and out, smooth and powerful engine.
Cons:
  • No third-row seating, SE model rides harshly, gets pricey with options.

  • Bad Vibrations Skewing Review - 2003 Nissan Murano

The Murano has been perfect for our needs. Good style, great ride, great performance and good use of interior space. It provided all our one car family requirements (retired). We are not getting advertised gas mileage but will give it some time. Had to have a computer chip replaced after 200 miles to fix non working interior lights. Have a real concern about tremendous vibration and noise in car when back windows are open. Scared the devil out of us. Vehicle felt like back end was going to break away at 40+ MPH. Plan on taking this up with Nissan. Cannot keeo vehicle if not corrected.

Great Performance!!! Particularly on damaged roads. The 18" wheels provide for an excelent size tire (A lot of rubber :))

  • EVEN BETTER THEN BMW325xi - 2003 Nissan Murano

I have been looking to trade in my XTerra for a softer ride.....test drove many cars in the procces, all of which fell in the $30-36k price range, wanted to keep it fair.....the Murano out did all of them, even the Acura MDX, and the BMW 325xi.....its worth paying the 2-3k dealers want over sticker....but shop around, i managed 2 get mine at sticker, fully loaded.

  • This Vehicle is a Blast - 2003 Nissan Murano

This vehicle is incredible. It drives very similarly to a BMW X5. The quality is there. The ride is firm but comfortable and definitely handles very well for a SUV. It drives like a car. I get a thumbs up wherever I drive. The CVT transmission is great. One does get used to it fairly quickly. You never feel any gears changing or jerking like a normal transmission would. I think anyone who gets this vehicle would be very content. I am very impressed with Nissan.

This review is for the SE AWD with Nav. for the first 500 miles. At first I was so mesmerized with the style that I didnt realize the excellence of the fit and finish on this vehicle. My second surprise was finding out how smooth the engine and transmission operate. All features and details are excellent. The only thing that I would modify is softening the suspension a little, because it is a little harsh over pot holes and bumps. I rate this vehicle as a solid "10".

I have driven every SUV there is. The MDX, RX 300, Mercedes, BMW etc...I just turned in my 2000 pathfinder. I have chosen this for its price and sporty feel. I wanted a car/suv and this fit the picture. I drove the SE and it was alot tighter and bumpier than the SL. The AWD and the 2WD drove the same, not much different in handling. The dash looks a little mini van like and the style sort of resembles a raised Pt Cruiser. But overall the inside is awsomely futuristic and I love the Chrome accents on the outside of the car. The 18" wheels are cool as heck! This car has the most features for the buck. Worth looking into.

  • Fun Ride - 2003 Nissan Murano

I bought my Murano for my wife at the end of April, and we have been enjoying this vehicle ever since. Fun to drive, alot of power, and the CVT transmission is great. You dont even feel the car shift. Only problem is the windows rattle going over pumps. Only seems to happen when the windows are down 1/4 to 1/2 the way down.

  • WOW - 2003 Nissan Murano

Was looking at an Explorer or a Honda CRV. Found the space and fun to drive in the Murano. Great highway handling with plenty of power and breaks makes my 42-mile drive each way to work is pleasure. Programming my garage door into the rear view mirror is a great feature. Cool gadgets and room for the kids, all in one vehicle. Was expecting better gas mileage (now getting 22 hwy / sticker is 25hwy). Overall very impressed with my first new Nissan. Used Costco membership on line and saved a lot!

Great Car...SUV...whatever it is. My wife and I have to Paper/Rock/Scissors to decide who gets to drive it each time! Beautiful ride, great handling, could be better on gas...but its still worth the drive. Im 67 and I love the headroom and legroom. The rear seating actually works for me as well! CVT is a sweet idea. Definitely a headturner!

  • Excellent! - 2003 Nissan Murano

I looked at virtually every SUV on the market and this one is the best combination of style and performance I found. It came down to a Honda Pilot (a wonderful SUV) and the Murano and while both offer substance, the Murano had style. It is comfortable, powerful, and in the SE trim eats up corners and handles nimbly around town. The price is also very reasonable considering all of the features and options.
