Overview & Reviews
The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.
New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

murano musings - 2016 Nissan Murano
By stephen ober - August 5 - 2:07 pmWeve only had it a month so I cant comment on reliability, but other reviews seem to have been spot on. Very comfortable, enough power, decent mpg and nice to look at. They seemed to have gotten the CVT figured out, its not offensive, which is high praise because until this one Ive had no use for them. If you tow things, go mudding or want a sports car in SUV clothing this isnt it. If youre an empty nester and need to haul your stuff around on trips this is as good as it gets. Let me mention again - this car is really comfortable. The computer interface is well done, its intuitive and easy to use. The interior materials are very nice and the layout is spacious. I really like the motor, its got plenty of power and uses regular gas. I dont have much use for twin turbo 4s that need premium which are what the majority of its competitors are doing. All in all were very happy with this car, if you need an SUV and want a comfort cruiser this is definitely worth a look.

Good SUV to have..only if..... - 2006 Nissan Murano
By Gumran - July 31 - 1:10 pmI just bought the off lease vehicle and got at the decent price. Its SL AWD with touring edition. I have done lot of research and test drove few SUVs too and among all of them I liked Murano. Its fun to drive, great looking vehicle. I suggest anyone who is interested buying Murano, itll be a good deal if you buy used (like off lease etc.) because to be honest with all the options on new Murano the MSRP will be $40K and its not worth buying any Nissan at that price. So my advice is buy a decent milage car for half the price. Because, in the end you will hear few rattles and wind noise and stuff. But the bargain you get is worth the price. CVT is great, very smooth.

Great Styling - 2005 Nissan Murano
By Sit L Wong - July 17 - 3:23 pmUpsized from Maxima after 110K+ miles. Gave the Maxima to my son. Am a believer in Nissans reliability & durability. I was wowed by the looks of this SUV. My Murano SE has firm, almost still sporty European ride. Love the interior roominess. Love the CVT - smooth acceleration without the shifting.

Mixed Bag -- Ya Love It Or Ya Hate It - 2003 Nissan Murano
By SacMuranoDvr - July 16 - 10:00 amWell, its a great substitute for a station wagon. The CVT takes some getting use to. Its a lot peppier in Ds mode. Although, Id rather have a regular automatic and more road feel. Fits in parking spaces, carries people, has so-so styling and the dealers are a mixed bag. I dont know, I get the feeling they could have done better.

Great Design - 2003 Nissan Murano
By alopez - July 16 - 10:00 amBeautiful design, fun to driving, good performance in city or freeway; excellent performance driving in heavy rain conditions. Interesting interior and exterior design, great features. Poor left back and back visibility, Interior seats does not provide with an arm rest.

5k miles & lovin every minute!! - 2009 Nissan Murano
By dbn8r - July 15 - 4:46 amGot my new Murano in April, and just rolled over 5,000 miles! First tank of gas yielded 18 mpg, and Im currently getting 24-25 mpg (half city/half hwy). Not overly conscious of my driving habits, so a little attention could possibly yield even better mpg. Just hit my thirties and was time to move on from my sports car- after a little separation anxiety have never looked back! =D I found the quickness & agility a pleasant surprise over older muranos, and the comfort/mileage/value beat out the Mazda CX-7 & Infiniti FX-35. Its rugged enough to get to construction sites for my job, roomy enough for our two dogs, stylish for a night on the town. Love everything about this car!

VERY NICE VEHICLE -OVERALL - 2009 Nissan Murano
By elp - July 11 - 3:46 amWe bought this vehicle after looking at and driving many competing suvs. After 2 months and 4000 miles of assorted driving I find that I am overall satisfied with the Murano because it does what we bought it for, larger size, 2 rows of seats with plenty of room between them, ease of entry, and a fair load of features as we have it equipped. However, I find several small items on the Murano that I would like to be improved to make it great. Just my suggestions which I will list below. This SL has premium, technology, and leather packages.

Murano falls short on handling - 2003 Nissan Murano
By Steven Pollock - July 10 - 10:00 amThe Nissan Murano, mine now with 7,000 miles. Great highway mieage 25mpg, terrible in the city 14-15 mpg, slugish ingine for a dead stop. Poor handling especially from my last SUV the BMW X-5. Very comfortable for long ride with pleanty of interior room if you dont need a third road. For the money, you get what you paid for and more.
