Model Overview:

The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.

New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

  • Murano has power - 2005 Nissan Murano

I find the new transmission a bonus, it does not detract from performance. Easy and fun to drive, all the features I wanted and none that I did not. Nissan never sees a Murono in the shop or on the lot. They only need sparkplugs at 105,000 miles. Outside of an oil change and tires, this is a no maintaince vehicle. Great visibility.

This car has been great for the past 5 years. Its been solid and has never needed any major fixes. Its always been very usable in the real world, from loading it full of items for transportation to driving around a full family of 5. With a black on black color with 22" black rims the car looks great even to this day. When driving around town it has always had solid pick up and the CVT is something that works seamlessly. You start to really love the gear changing without feeling it happening. In the last year or so I was rear ended. The car stood like a champ and only needed minor repairs to the muffler. Otherwise the bumper was perfectly fine. Its been a great car.

  • I LOVE MY MURANO - 2005 Nissan Murano

The Murano had 46 odometer miles when purchased. After driving the Murano for approximately 700 miles, here are my list of likes and dislikes. The steering wheel vibrated when braking at 30-40 miles per hour. The dealer had to resurface the rotor to correct the problem. The service dept said this can happen if the vehicle has been sitting for a while. No problem after repair. I love the Bose 6-disc sound system with subwoofer, its handling, braking system, interior/exterior design, etc. Dislikes - inaccurate computerized MPG - dealer said to re- evaluate after 1000 miles. Determining the length/width of the Murano when parking is tricky.

My wife has always wanted a Murano, after driving it now I want one. I am a big person(65" 260 lbs) this is the first SUV that I can fit comfortably in. Also great in the snow. Would highly recommend.

  • Murano Ripoff - 2004 Nissan Murano

I purchased a 2004 Murano SL AWD in 2008 with 34K miles. I purchased an extended warranty for 7/100000. All service was peformed aty Nissan dealership. The following items were fixed under warranty: 1) Driver seat - known problem 2) 2 engine mounts 3) oil gasket 4) tire rod Recently at 102K miles I replaced an engine seal for $300. A fuel consumption test detected that engine is burning 1 qt of oil every 1K miles. Last week, I had to tow Murano to dealership. The rear differential disintegrated. The cost to fix $2300. When delear replaced rear differential they noticed transfer case was ruined. The cost of repair $3500. Needless to say I would not recommend this car.

This SUV is an absolute joy to drive, sturdy and a feel of total driving control. Very safe and comfortable - unmeasurable compared to other SUVs Ive test driven. I cant imagine driving anything else. I have always driven very small two door sports cars and was unsure if I could handle something larger - I felt completely at ease the first time I test drove it - 7 months later Im still in love with it!

  • Good for what it is - 2005 Nissan Murano

I own a 2002 Altima with 143000 miles. I gave it to my wife to drive. She eagerly drove the car. Found this car on the used car lot. The SUV drives like a sports car but loves premium fuel to get the best performance. This SUV is very solid and quite. The CVT is very smooth and I love the way it accelerates. If you drive this car aggressively your mileage will suffer. I consistently get 21 to 24 MPG. I knew the mileage potential before I bought it. I wasnt sure if I would like the different styling of the dash but it perfect for placing my Garmin Nuvi760 on. I used the bean bag (friction) mount.

  • What fun luxury! - 2004 Nissan Murano

This one got me excited. It has been a really long time since I really HAD TO HAVE A CAR. I havent had this much fun driving a vehicle since my very first car as a teenager! (approx 20yrs ago) SHhh. Anyway, as a soccer mom and a full time outside sales rep this SUV has got it all for me and I dont feel like an old ninny in a mini van. The sporty ride and appearance makes me feel GREAT. You must take a test drive. Have Fun! Live life young! p.s. the gas milage beats the standard suv by far!

I am an owner of a 2005 Nissan Murano.Since i have this SUV I can not imagine driving a diffrent car.It has everythig you ever expect from a great vehicle. My husband has a mercedes but I will never change my car with his.It handles really well in bad weather conditions and has a great power and a beautiful design. The only suggestion that I have to improve this vehicle is use more powerful head lights.Try it and you will belive it.

  • Great Car-Bad Back up sensors - 2016 Nissan Murano
    By -

Two things I dont like are Nav screen gets sun glare and the back up sensors are quite and only beep once. Other that those 2 items the car is great and fun to drive. I believe the price is well worth it. We purchase the Platinum AWD with tech package.
