This Year's Model Updates:

Not satisfied with the current crop of crossover SUVs? Nissan rolls out the newest car-based SUV, the Murano. It boasts a powerful V6 engine and distinctive styling.

Pros:
  • Very good use of interior space, unique styling inside and out, smooth and powerful engine.
Cons:
  • No third-row seating, SE model rides harshly, gets pricey with options.

comfortable urban suv with great interior room and excellent visability.teriffic sound system.smooth shifting and breaking.quiet with little or no road or wind noise.you dont see a lot of these so its stands out in a crowd.very pleased so far. Milage per gallon is at lower end of what the window sticker indicates but not bad for 245 hp.great styling

The Murano is a unique vehicle for todays market and deserves the attention it is getting. The sproting "crossover" style is actually a new center to which all car manufacturers will find themselves moving (e.g. Volvos XC 90, Infinitis FX, Porsches Cayenne, Lexus RX330). Fully equipped, the Murano costs much less than any of these, and is more fun to drive, more comfortable to be in, as capable on bad roads and in bad weather, as fast, and good-looking as any of them. Bravo to Nissan for delivering a sport-SUV so bold in style and thought-out in function.

I love the Murano so far. It is fun to drive, stylish, and practical as well. I have had it for about three weeks now and thus far have no complaints. I am not wishing for snow, but am anxious to see how the AWD handles.

the first time i had to call roadside assistance, when the car was one month old, it happende to be bad gas, with water in it. this time, one month later, the car died near my home, withthe brake and bat tery lights on. eveidently someof the 2003 muranos have defective alternators, i would love to get my money back and get a volvo. i got a new car so i wouldnt be stuck on the side of the road, i travel all the time and am just lucky this happend near my home.

This Murano is very quick, the gas mi/ depends on how you drive I get like 24.7 overall. If I drive hard I get alot less.

  • Fabulous car, minor problems - 2003 Nissan Murano

Drove for 2 years, have 45,000 miles. Still an excellent, luxury SUV. Very comfortable, excellent performance in snow. Gas mileage 19-20 mpg. Minor paint chips, recommend a clear bra. Unfortunately, when warranty expired, CD player quit working. "Custom" BOSE system will cost $400 to "re-build" since no "replacement" is available.

  • LOVE IT!! - 2003 Nissan Murano

I love my Murano. I bought it because of the unique styling. I have all options with the exception of the nav system. The Bose stereo is excellent. Love the power seats with the memory. Have 3 kids and they have plenty of room in the back. I cant complain about anything. As far as some of the other reviews, If you open the sunroof to the setting that has the white mark (different from the other settings), you will not experience the cabin noise. I ride with the sunroof open and all windows up almost daily and do not have a problem. Also, there is definitely a rear window washer. I think some people need to read the owners manual. I get avg. 20 mpg and drive city and highway.

Had a 2001 Pathfinder for three years. Perfect SUV...no problem at all. Changed to Murano because it was the new car in the block. Drives really well until we hit a pothole! Big or small holes, you can feel the bumps and hear the thumps! Especially in New York City. Nissan should either make the car a little higher with plusher seats and better suspension to soak up the bumps.

I bought this magnificent machine "love at first sight". No need for leather, the material is like no other, more of suede feel than anything else. The standard features surpass Lexus and BMW as far as interior comfort, design, and hands on instrumentation. 4-foot daughter to my 6.5-foot son to my full- grown lab, there’s room galore. Exterior, its like no other. It own’s the niche between luxury SUV design and ultra sport sedan, revolutionizing this market class. Lastly, who ever heard of an SUV doing 7 sec. 0-60 times, still getting 21-avg. mpg, oh yeah, all under $30K. Me thats who, see ya!

  • Murano - Great choice for city folks - 2003 Nissan Murano

Overall, great SUV. And priced right. The fuel economy has actually improved since I purchased it in March 03. The roominess and ease of adjusting rear seats are great as well. I think the auto adjusting drivers seat is un- needed (I couldnt have that removed at the dealership - it was on all autos) and the fact that you cant get heated seats by themselves are both bummers, but Im still very pleased with the purchase.
