This Year's Model Updates:

Not satisfied with the current crop of crossover SUVs? Nissan rolls out the newest car-based SUV, the Murano. It boasts a powerful V6 engine and distinctive styling.

Pros:
  • Very good use of interior space, unique styling inside and out, smooth and powerful engine.
Cons:
  • No third-row seating, SE model rides harshly, gets pricey with options.

  • Murano: A Great Car! - 2003 Nissan Murano

From styling to performance this car is absolutly great! We have enjoyed it from the first test drive. We get 21.8 MPG around town. Weve only taken it on one trip and got 24.4 MPG. Considering the power and size of the car we feel the MPG is great. Several friends are considering buying this car now.

  • 170,000 in 6 yrs & still going strong! - 2003 Nissan Murano

I was really surprised to read of the problems that others have had with their 2003 Murano. With 170,000+ miles on mine, of course Ive had to replace normal wear-out parts, do the brakes, etc, Also had to replace front strut sleeves, but that is the only problem that I have had in 170,000 miles. Love the transmission and I have always done as my salesman advised, "Come to a COMPLETE stop before shifting from reverse to drive - no rolling shifts!" I like mine so much that when I get another 50,000 miles on her (about 1 1/2 years for me), Im going to get another Murano. I do wish that the back window rolled down, though.

  • Dont miss the Audi - 2003 Nissan Murano

I traded in my Audi A6 Quattro on this car and thought that I would miss the comfort. I dont, the Murano rides great, and is very quiet. I have only driven it 1200 miles, so the gas mileage isnt what I would like, but it isnt much less than the Audi. I sure get lots of people asking me about it, and it is a real hit with my family and friends.

  • Week 1- I still like it - 2003 Nissan Murano

Likes: styling-its been a head- turner; I dont get fatigued driving long distances; initial quality has been near-perfect;front cup-holder is an accident-waiting-to-happen; gas mileage could be better (17-22 initally-Im hoping it will improve); rear visibility is so limited, Im having a back-up warning system installed;passenger room is ample; cargo capacity is adequate (barely); power-wise, its not an FX35, but its got plenty of off-the-line zip and passing power. Overall, I am more than pleased.

  • My first SUV - 2003 Nissan Murano

This is my first SUV purchase and Im glad I went with the Murano.. I test drove other SUV but nothing caught my eyes like the Murano did. Everyone is asking me what kind of SUV it is that it must be very expensive until I tell them how much I paid for it. Its definitely fun to drive and so much ROOM! My newborn baby will have plenty of space in the back =). The remote pull down chair for the back is really great!

This is my 4th Nissan & the Murano is by far my favorite. Very spacious interior, luxury car features, very smooth car-like ride, CVT makes ride even better, awesome exterior design. I definitely would recommend!!

  • Hard to Walkaway after Test Driving it. - 2003 Nissan Murano

All we wanted to do on New Years Eve was see the Murano up close and see what it had to offer. The dealer drove one out from the back lot, Pewter with a loud "orange" interior. It looked like a concept car put into production. We looked at the Saturn Vue the day before, granted different price ranges, but the Murano was tough to walk away from. Drove it home that night!

Ive had the murano for five weeks now and I cant find anything I dislike about the vehicle. It handles like a car not an SUV. I love the headlights and the fact that you can adjust them. Also, I was planning to put another sound system in, but the BOSE system is amazing and with no doubt a keeper.
