This Year's Model Updates:

Not satisfied with the current crop of crossover SUVs? Nissan rolls out the newest car-based SUV, the Murano. It boasts a powerful V6 engine and distinctive styling.

Pros:
  • Very good use of interior space, unique styling inside and out, smooth and powerful engine.
Cons:
  • No third-row seating, SE model rides harshly, gets pricey with options.

  • The Grin is In... - 2003 Nissan Murano

I spent about 8 months looking at options and always kept coming back to the Murano. At the time it wasnt even available yet. I knew it had the technological edge over the competition, but it wasnt until I test drove the SE model that I knew I would be buying one. Ive now had it for a month and its been good to me, and yes that grin on the grill reflects the one on my face. This is one excellent drive, plus its reasonably sensible.

Excellent vehicle. Looks good, handles good, reasonable mileage for type of vehicle. Get appreciative looks whereever I go. Initial inspection revealed on minor flaw in the interior which I did not have fixed due to flaws location not being very noticable.

After having numerous American and German vehicles, including a WWII halftrack, the Murano is a fabulous pleasure to enjoy. From the great Nissan handling and acceleration, the well thought out interior and innovative features such as the CVT, to common sense layout and easy access, legroom, adjustability and storage space, I can truly say there is no other vehicle in my 30 years of driving, that I have found as much fun and practical. Nissan you got it right, here! (What happened with the new Maxima? Oops!)

This is an undersized, overbuilt (a good thing) SUV. It is the perfect family car.

  • Great! So Far......... - 2003 Nissan Murano

Just picked it up $2,700 under MSRP. Fully loaded, everything except navagation system. Its my wifes car and she loves it. We still need to figure out all the "gadgets". It has terrific power and rides smoothly. Noted some reviews mention noise with sunroof open. Have found this to be true. This Maurano did not come with sunroof deflector. Strange for a vehicle with everything. We love the looks and do not see many on the road. Concerned about stated gas mileage, getting 14.7 around town. Hope to get better than that! My wife will be running on the highway. This is our first SUV and first foreign vehicle.

  • Looking forward to my next one! - 2003 Nissan Murano

No problems at all with fuel economy. This is like any other vehicle..if you drive it hard, the economy suffers, but I regularly get better than 25 MPG on the highway. Very comfortable vehicle with heated seats. Handles like a dream and quality is better than my 2001 Odyssey. Better attention to details than most manufacturers. Im looking forward to getting my next one.... Im thinking an SE AWD with leather.

  • Great crossover! - 2003 Nissan Murano

Nissan blew it with the minimal advertising of this great vehicle! It rides wonderfully, is very luxurious and comfortable inside and has loads of safety and comfort features. It is perfect for those who no longer need the seating in a van, and who want the option of 4 wheel drive, a great transmission, plenty of power, and comfort!

  • Already Partial To Nissan! - 2003 Nissan Murano
    By -

Ive owned Nissans in the past and was already partial to them which is why I checked out the Murano. But just to make an informative choice, I also checked out the Lexus, The BMW, The Infinite, None of which compared, and which was backed up by the online studies. I love the CVT, super smooth, esp. climbing steep grades. you gotta go try some mountain driving! Nissan did everything right on this vehicle. Yeah, theyre still my favorite!

  • Murano, Transmitions are ok dont worry, - 2003 Nissan Murano

Hello my name is Chris from Ma, I just purchased my 2003 Murano SL AWD with 63k on it. I love the interior and exterior. I read the reviews about the CVT transmissions with customers having issues with them. I called Nissan today because I had thought i was having trouble with my tranny but they told me most people dont know and arent used to driving with the CVT thats why they think they are having trouble with them. Nissan recently extended their warranty to 10 years or 120,000 miles on any Nissan with the CVT. You dont have to do any thing to receive this warranty what so ever. ALSO if you have repaired your transmission withing the 120K they will send you in full your money back.

  • Out of the box of lookalike SUVs - 2003 Nissan Murano

Its been said that this is the "Z" of SUVs, and I think Id have to agree with that. My FWD SE handles great, stops remarkably quickly, and is seamless in its acceleration. The cabin is comfortable and stylish.
