Overview & Reviews
SE models now include a manual-shift mode for the CVT, and satellite radio pre-wiring is standard on all models. The standard driver seat now features 10-way power adjustment.
- Excellent handling, comfortable and practical interior, unique styling inside and out, smooth and powerful engine.
- Continuously variable transmission detracts from performance, SE model rides harshly, no third-row seat, gets pricey with options.

Comfortable, sporty and fun to drive. - 2004 Nissan Murano
By Murano Joe - November 30 - 10:00 amThe CVT gives silky-smooth acceleration and offers plenty of passing power. Lots of interior passenger/cargo space. Very comfortable seating. A great family car for road trips (touring package w/ DVD player). Even with all this room, it drives more like a sports car than a truck. (Certainly compared to the Ford Expedition I traded in). Faster and a better ride than Highlander, 4Runner and Pilot (I test drove all). Much better value than the MDX, RX330, FX35 (all run ~$6,500 higher drive- out price). If you have kids, consider adding running boards/side bars (aftermarket $250-350). The rear seat step-in, while not bad for adults, is a little high for kids.

Murano counterpoint - 2004 Nissan Murano
By muranodriver - November 4 - 2:00 amFirst off, about the sluggish, power- sapping CVT.It isnt. This SUV is very lively.Put your foot down and the RPMs go to peak power, and stay there as the CVT constantly adjusts ratio to maximize acceleration. Motor Trend says "The Murano consistently took 0-60 mph and 1/4 mi acceleration honors." Believe it. There is more road noise than I would like, but otherwise driving dynamics are great.Interior space is fantastic, materials are pleasant to look at and touch. The large dash expanse (a result of the windshield rake) screams mini-van!,but otherwise the cockpit is great.I have the base model, and it includes everything I want.

nissan murano, 2003 - 2004 Nissan Murano
By dsmith9066 - October 19 - 10:00 amLove the vehicle. There is a small problem when stopping. When vehicle is put into park, there is a brief lunge. I hve never experienced this before in another vehicle. It is fun to drive. In three measurements of mpg, I get 19.1 mpg for in town driving.

Murano...some cabin noise - 2004 Nissan Murano
By Kelly787 - October 19 - 10:00 amI absolutely love this vehicle. It is the fourth Nissan Ive owned. The car drives well in snow (lots of it) and handles well on the road. My only complaint is that I have had to take in to the dealership on numerous occasions for interior rattles (rear windows, hatch, front and back doors and center console). Some of these have had bulletins issued and others have not. I understand that Nissan has worked to fix this issue and that it has been a problem on all the new model designs. The dealership is amazing and always willing to resolve any problems I have.

By Mi T Mo - October 19 - 10:00 amI enjoy the styling and performance. Even though the transmission is a little sluggish, its adequate for island driving.

Great vehicle!! - 2004 Nissan Murano
By Rowdy - September 23 - 8:06 amGreat vehicle! Bought the SUV primarily for wife to drive...but I think I need one too! Great looking, great performance, feels like I am driving a car in terms of acceleration and ride. Bought the car used after much reseach and got a good deal on this 04. Only 18,000 miles when purchased at dealer, and it looks (and smells new still. Nissan did a good job with this SUV.

Enjoying our 19th Datsun/Nissan - 2004 Nissan Murano
By pauluspetrus - September 22 - 2:00 amThe Murano is our 19th Nissan and is the best to date in the non-sports category (we thoroughly enjoyed our 280Z and 280ZX). Living in the North, we need a 4 season car and this is the best blend Ive seen and the best value in its class. Ive read some slight negatives from some writers, but I personally vote the Murano "Two Thumbs Up."

MuranoAdvisRN - 2004 Nissan Murano
By AdvisRN - September 22 - 2:00 amI traded in a Pathfinder for my Nissan Murano and am very impressed with the quality of Nissan vehicles. I previously helped my Mother buy a Nissan Murano a year ago. We liked it so much that I bought the exact same model (but with AWD) and even the same color this year. I love driving my Murano and get complements on it all the time.
