Model Overview:

The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.

New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

  • great car - 2005 Nissan Murano

I bought this fully loaded murano with nav. and back up camera. Both were purchased for the sole purpose of being another "toy" but turn out to be quite functional and fun. Excellent ride, not mushy but a little on the firm sporty side. Great handling, better than my 1997 pontiac GTP.Gas mileage around 21 mixed driving which is great because I have learned they get better after some break-in. Good all around performance. Great in snow with AWD model. Steering and braking are predictable with just the right feel. A little hard to judge distance in the front when parking, back up camera eliminates this problem in the rear. I like this car better than the rx330 or fx45 that I drove.

This is our second and when the lease is up next April, we will most likely lease another. It is a good, solid car that performs well with no trouble. This is my wifes car so I expect it to be a safe, easy to drive car. I wish the gas mileage was better but we live with it. Love the car as does my wife.

  • Should have a mechanic as an option - 2004 Nissan Murano
    By -

Bought my 2004 new. Have put on at least 3 to 4 brakes, and 3 sets of tires. Currently has 170,000 miles and is stuck at the dealership, was towed there. Right now needs motor mounts, catalylic convertor, front brakes, burns oil, a trans leak (so the dealer says, I do not have any leak spots on the ground), four tires, a belt: $6,000. in parts and labor! Really? I just replaced the CV joint on the drivers side. 350.00, an independent friend replaced it, probably double price at a service station. Nissan dealership is basically telling me to junk the car, so I will buy a new one. They tell me the engine may be bad, the transmission may need to be replaced. Dealership is scary.

  • I love my Murano - 2005 Nissan Murano

This car is the best I have ever owned. I have had no problems at all. It drives like a dream. The gas mileage is impressive for an SUV. It handles very well in the rain and snow...I was scared to drive under these conditions before owning this car.

  • Disappointing MPG - 2004 Nissan Murano
    By -

Bad news first: I have been unable to get above 16 MPG city or HIGHWAY. This is totally unacceptable. I love the way it drives and handles. The interior is laid out very nicely except for the odd little storage below the radio. I love the exterior styling, still getting lots of looks. Im not sure if I will be keeping it, if Nissan or the dealer wont do something.

awesome and high performance - only slight negative is gas mileage but does get 18 mpg not bad for its class.

  • The best mid-size SUV/Crossover I drove - 2012 Nissan Murano
    By -

I test drove several mid-size SUV/Crossovers and the Murano was not even on my radar because of its "moon mobile" looks although I had read great reviews on Edmunds and CR. After a very uninspriring test drive of a Highlander Limited I decided to stop at the Nissan dealership next to the Toyota dealer and give the Murano a spin before heading home since I was already there. That changed my impression of the Murano immediately! Get behind the wheel of one after trying out all of the others and youll understand why Murano owners are loyal. The interior is on par with an Infiniti and the driving dynamics are wonderful. The more I drive it the more I appreciate it. Love the smooth CVT!!

This crossover is a terrific vehicle and is fun to drive. It has many great features, but you need to get all the packages to achieve that. The ride is smooth with great pick up.
