This Year's Model Updates:

Not satisfied with the current crop of crossover SUVs? Nissan rolls out the newest car-based SUV, the Murano. It boasts a powerful V6 engine and distinctive styling.

Pros:
  • Very good use of interior space, unique styling inside and out, smooth and powerful engine.
Cons:
  • No third-row seating, SE model rides harshly, gets pricey with options.

  • Murano is the best crossover SUV - 2003 Nissan Murano

I need good gas mileage, reliability, functionality, and the ability to tow about 2000 lbs worth of trailer. The contenders were the Toyota Highlander (out because you can only get a light colored leather interior) the Toyota 4 Runner (incredible vehicle but out because of poor gas mileage) Honda Pilot (out because of lack of decent options (no heated seats, no sunroof, cheap looking leather interior). I also drove all the GM products and couldnt get over the poor reliability issues for about the same out the door price. The Murano wins based on my criteria and is really fun to drive. Much more like a sports sedan than an SUV.

great car. ive wanted one since it first came out. i have no problem with it except mabye not knowing exactly how to use some of the GPS and silly things like the windshield wipers and, for me, difficult light switch. but that isnt you its me. Actually the manual and some of the cars working items are not user friendly. Ive had Hondas all my life and they seem to be easier to comprehend and use. There are a lot of things on this car that yet, im not familiar with as of yet. Mabye its my 72years or something but i have some and i say some difficulty with it as of yet. Ive had it about a month so as i said it me...God Bless you and i wouldnt trade this one for two other cars.

Have had the Murano for 5 months. The dashboard has an annoying clicking sound and recently have been hearing some squeeking and crackling noises which are either coming from the suspenders or the shifting mechanism. will have it checked soon. The ride is smooth and stable. Milage is low for the gallon.

  • Best Looking SUV on the Road - 2003 Nissan Murano

We previously owned a Lexus RX300,which we loved, so when looking for a new vehicle,it had to be great. We looked at an Infinti FX35, compared it to the Nissan Murano, and we were sold on the Murano! We have been stopped by people almost every time we drive it! It is by far the best looking SUV on the road.

  • Will Never Again Buy A Nissan - 2003 Nissan Murano

Since purchase (Oct 4, 2003--new) the dealer has had the vehicle more than I have. The transmission has failed (had to be completely replaced) and it is now back at the dealer for "drive shaft problems." I cant begin to tell you how unhappy and dissatisfied I am.

Since purchasing my Murano I have enjoyed driving it much more than my Suburban. It is comfortable and I enjoy not having to feel the shifting.

I was driving an ML320 and looking to trade in for better gas mileage. I looked at all the crossovers but nothing compared to my ML. Innitially didnt like the look but test drove Murano anyway. The car is fun to drive, a lot like my ML but smaller stearing wheel. Leather was ok.. but the cloth in the Murano was the best of any of the similar SUVs Id seen. Even with no options the car had a lot in it. The CVT was a bit strange at first but the SUV moves nicely. I have had it just a week and I dont miss my ML.

  • Love It, Love It, Love It!! - 2003 Nissan Murano

We bought our Murano 2 weeks ago and we love it! We had a 2001 Maxima that we really enjoyed, but this is even more fun. The ride is smoother and the engine has more pep. We love the leather interior and the placement of the radio/climate controls closer to the driver. The interior is very roomy and feels bigger than it looks from the outside. The adjustable back seats are also a plus. All around it is a great SUV/car!

After looking at the Highlander, Pilot and Endeavor, I am SO happy with my decision to go with the Murano. This car has the looks, power and space Ive been looking for, not to mention the features. This is my first SUV, cominmg from a sports car and if you are coming from the same situation, this is definitely the vehicle for you. It handles excellently and has more power than my sports car! I think the CVT is awesome when it comes to power and fuel economy, though not quite up to the sticker highway 25 mpg, it still does great. This car is not just for families either, as a young single male I totatly love this vehicle. Cant go wrong with this one.

This vehicle really lives up to the advertising...great fun to drive, works in different modes to suit our changing daily needs. We have taken a couple of long road trips and have been delighted with the ease of handling and "usability" of the Murano. The exterior design is eyecatching and cool. We love it!
