This Year's Model Updates:

For 2005, the Murano receives a rollover sensor for the side curtain airbags, and a new S model with fewer features and a lower price. New options packages and an Intelligent Key entry and ignition system are newly available.

Pros:
  • Sharp handling, strong standard engine, comfortable and practical interior.
Cons:
  • Continuously variable transmission detracts from performance, SE model rides harshly, no third-row seat.

Bought a new one only in black on tan. Sl awd came with it. Since moved to Az. Truck is outstanding. Ride is firm yet very comfy. Excellent visibility. Ride is best to my 83 944. Averaging 20 mpg city and highway.

  • Not a Great CUV - 2005 Nissan Murano

This is not one of the greatest CUVs out there. The CVT transmission is boring and apparently beginning to cause problems. Nissan is now extending the warranty to 100k miles. The gas mileage is awful and you must use premium gas to get the vehicle to function close to optimum output. At five years old my front seat sides are tearing even though I am very gentle on this vehicle.

All wheel drive perfomance was excellent for the new england winter. Gas mileage on highway a huge plus Roomy with plenty of leg room for rear passengers. Love the hatch door with the lights. handles the curves well. Zippy sleek looking vehicle. I intend to purchase a second one for the spouse.

  • Best SUV for my needs and Budget - 2005 Nissan Murano

I drove trucks and truck based SUVs for 16 yrs. because my business required towing trailers. I missed sporty car handling and mileage. I found a good handling, comfortable, efficent(for its size)utility wagon in the Murano. My 65" frame does not fit well in most cars but I am comfotable in the Murano with out a sunroof. The AWD works well in the sand when I launch my kayak from the beach. Handling on mountain roads is excellent. My wife and I love the room and comfort when traveling. We regulary take a 6 hr. trip with our 70 lb. dog and gear and the Murano is perfect for trips. On the road and seat comfort are tops. We actually fight about who gets to drive, That has never happened before.

  • Almost perfect - 2005 Nissan Murano

I dont drive my 2005 Nissan Murano much, so I am experiencing low gas milage. I have had this vehicle for almost a year and still only have 4,000 miles on it. It drives like a sports car, but gives me the utility of an SUV. I moved from a Honda Pilot to the Murano for the performance and handling. I like it a lot, and am waiting for a chance to take a long trip so I can see if the gas milage goes up. The Murano is also very quiet on the road, and a great touring vehicle. It sits just high enough to give the driver a good view of whats going on around you, but low enough to be very aerodynamic. I keep looking for things I would have done different, but they have done everything right.

Incredible car, fun to drive, great handling, second row seat has generous leg room, large cargo area, leather is soft and supple - added wood trim kit - very rich and warm interior, center console has spots for cell phone, change & cup holders - all hide away nicely when not in use.

  • taken for a ride - 2005 Nissan Murano

I initially enjoyed the car until it began to have problems at about 58,000 miles replaced airflow meter $900, then the kicker, at 94,000 miles had to replace the CVT transfer case at $4500. had a 100,000 mile warranty from purchase...it refused to cover the transfer case. The car is very costly!!! I now owe more on the car than what it is worth.

Love this vehicle. The dual transmission did fantastic in the Rocky Moutains...very little braking required. Fun, fun, fun. Lots of compliments on this vehicle. Only complaint is that the mirrors and wide windshield frame create blind spots....mirrors need to be lower to avoid huge void.

  • Best vehicle ive ever had. - 2005 Nissan Murano
    By -

I have owned my 05 SL 2WD since it arrived off the boat October 2005. It currently has 132,000 miles. I have NEVER kept a vehicle over 75,000 miles before. I drive 65 miles R/T 4-5 days a week through the Arizona desert and farmlands at 45-70 MPH, mostly using cruise control. In the summer I average 21.5 mpg or around 420 mpt. In the fall-spring without A/C I average 23.6 or 475 mpt. The most was a confirmed 525 mpt one winter. My local dealership has done all recall work as well as routine maintenance. All in all, it has been a great family ride and has never left us stranded. Unlike many Ford or Chryslers I have owned. Sure it has its known problems and this one is no different.
