This Year's Model Updates:

SE models now include a manual-shift mode for the CVT, and satellite radio pre-wiring is standard on all models. The standard driver seat now features 10-way power adjustment.

Pros:
  • Excellent handling, comfortable and practical interior, unique styling inside and out, smooth and powerful engine.
Cons:
  • Continuously variable transmission detracts from performance, SE model rides harshly, no third-row seat, gets pricey with options.

  • Murano is an excellent vehicle! - 2004 Nissan Murano

I purchased the vehicle based upon the looks, features and most importantly the interior leg room, (Im 64" and have a limited variety of vehicles that will accomodate me comfortably). After driving the vehicle for several days I was pleased to find many luxury features that I was unaware of. This vehicle has plenty of power, a super smooth ride, excellent sound system and all the bells and whistles I could ask for. I recommend the Murano to everyone I speak to.

I just bought my murano 3 days ago, and all i want to do is get in it and drive, anywhere. it handles great, the bose stereo system will rival anything the punk kids got in there tricked out honda civics. i parked it at the grocery store today and when i came back out there were 3 people walking around and peeking into my car. they loved it too.

All said and done, this SUV feels good to drive, with many nice features. I have driven many others in its class, and this one was my favorite. I have the touring package with the works, and cafe au lait leather interior, and its much cooler than the dark interior, especially when you live in florida!

  • Two Questions on my Murano SL FWD - 2004 Nissan Murano

I have heard too many positve evaluations. However, I noticed that: (1) I have never got the 25MPG fuel economy on highway with a speed of 70MPH, only about 22MPG. (2) When I try to accelerate the car (not very sudden) at low speed (<20MPH) I find that the engines revolution has a slight shift down (i.e. from 1800rpm to 1500rpm), and then stay at that revolution with an increasing speed; on the contrary, when I try to slow down the car, at the speed of 15MPH I find that the revolution has another shift up (i.e. from 1100rpm to 1500rpm), and then goes back to 1100rpm with a decreasing speed. Anybody noticed the same phenomena? All comments are welcome.

Ive never owned a car that I enjoyed more. Ive had Lincolns and Mercury sedans for the prior 20+ years. This car met all of my expectations. And its fun to drive a car that still gets people to look at it.

Bought this car used and have had problems with the rear latch on a continuous basis. Actuator and latch were replaced and is still a problem. Had transmission problems that involved the gas peddle to stick which was covered under warranty at 60K. Gas mileage averages 19 MPG using high test and goes down if using reg. unleaded.

Our 1 yr new Murano has broken down 4 times starting at 10K miles. The service engine light comes on & the car loses power while driving. We had the recall repaired on the car & still had more issues. Each time it stopped running our 1 yr old was in the car in a near accident situation. Our dealership was rude & unhelpful. The service dpt at Nissan said something different was wrong with it each time & ensure that it will never happen again. Not true, its happened 4 times. Totally unacceptable! I fear for the safety of my family in this car. Up until this happened we loved the car. So disappointed. Now we have claims filed with Nissan & the state.

Awesome vehicle. The handle is superb for an SUV. The Bose Stereo is more than adequate. The only problem Ive noticed so far in the 5 months that Ive owned the vehicle is a rattle every now and then when I hit bumps. I have not been able to pin point it nor has the rattle been consistent enough for me to take it to the dealership for repair. I havent been on very long road trips as of yet, but it seems that it would be challenging to maintain a high degree of comfort on bumpy roads. Just my opinon.
