This Year's Model Updates:

Not satisfied with the current crop of crossover SUVs? Nissan rolls out the newest car-based SUV, the Murano. It boasts a powerful V6 engine and distinctive styling.

Pros:
  • Very good use of interior space, unique styling inside and out, smooth and powerful engine.
Cons:
  • No third-row seating, SE model rides harshly, gets pricey with options.

I test drove virtually every possible performance wagon, crossover, and suv on the market today. All of them had something going for them but the best compromise for the money was the Murano ( bar none). I knew when I test drove it that I had finally found a perfect blend of performance, comfort, practicality, mileage, safety, and affordability. Very nice ride, super comfy seats, nice styling, smooth powerful engine. Mileage has been ~20mpg during the break-in period in very cold weather.

I purchased the 03 Murano in 2005. I really was unsure about the look of it. But, what made it a sure thing was when my husband 64" was comfortable in it. We drive it everywhere.

  • Excellent Car!! - 2003 Nissan Murano

After doing my homework and testing driving the SUV I know there was no other SUV worth considering. Starting price $28,000 and when you compare it to other cars in its league they start at $34,000. Once you drive this SUV it is a no brainer that you should buy it!

  • As good as it gets - 2003 Nissan Murano

I only wish that there was a keyless entry and that the rear windows went down all the way (for the dogs!) We are loving the MURANO!

  • Over the top - 2003 Nissan Murano

Now that the Murano is over 1 year old, Im not as thrilled with it as I was initially. The roar of the sunroof makes it unuseable. The air vibrations are extemely uncomfortable. Ive replaced the condensor in the AC already. Overall...like it, dont love it anymore.

  • Not much better than nothing. - 2003 Nissan Murano

Still drives and rides like a SUV. Needs a better dynamic stability control system. Cheap looking instrumentation panel. No day time running light. Need to lose that chrome grill. The vehicle has a cover underneth, which makes it more difficult to change oil yourself and more costly to get it done at a shop. Obviously Nissan wants us to pay premium for routine maintenance and thinks we are stupid because we dont know "total-ownership- cost". Self-serving companies such as Nissan dont deserve to be around. This will likely be my last Nissan. What a mistake for buying this piece of junk.

  • We love our Murano!! - 2003 Nissan Murano

Weve had our Murano for just a week now and our absolutely loving it. The ride is smooth and car-like. The CVT transmission is awesome...still getting used to not feeling the shifting. We used our Murano to pick up a piece of furniture the first day and found the seats very easy to fold flat, and the cargo area spacious. We also considered the Highlander, the Pilot, the Pathfinder and the Sorrento. After seeing and then driving the Murano, though, the decision was easy. This is the SUV to buy if you want to turn some heads!
