Model Overview:

The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.

New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

We really like this crossover.Got amazing deal on it. Almost got Equinox but could not deal with the 4 cyl engine and we got nice Murano for the same price. Beautiful leather interior is exquisite. Have 3000 miles and no complaints.

Been very happy with my Nissan. Im a bigger guy and this cabin is very roomy. Lots of leg and head room for the front and the back which I found hard to find in SUVs. The fit and finish of the car is good. Gas mileage is better than my old Montero. I average about 18 to 19 miles in predominant city driving. On the highway it does great. The AWD is very nice in the midwest and provides a nice tight drive. The CVT is awkward. Im still getting use to the deceleration. The car is very responsive in acceleration and thats nice. There is a strange hiccup when slowing down. You must also learn to feather the gas in the snow/slush

This thing is a rocket. Smooth to drive, no trans-shifting, and quick to accelerate makes my Murano a pleasure to own. Hilander, Pilot, Accura all looked like they were cut from the same box shape. Back seat is roomy for 2 adults or 3 kids. Cargo area is plenty big for trips to the store or vacations. Price for leather, sunroof, extras was under $30,000. How can you beat this cost to fun ratio?

  • Dont buy it unless you like repair bills - 2003 Nissan Murano

Its attractive because of the look & I just like the way it "sits". However just like any relationship looks only go so far. 1st off engine noise & road noise is horrible. Problems: It wasnt responding to the accelerator-had to replace the transmission, replaced alternator, replaced oxygen sensor, replaced intake valve solenoid, window fell down into door-replaced power window assembly, replaced transfer case, heated seat switches replaced, replacing rear window wiper requires special Nissan part, waterproofing & trim falling off all over the car, key replacement = $290 for remote+$150 for microchip key. Total repair costs $4,505. Car is garaged, only driven about 9000 miles per year.

  • Glad I got it! - 2006 Nissan Murano

I just bought my Murano used a month ago from a private party. It only had 8,100 miles on it (2006). I looked for a year and got a great price for an SL in perfect condition. I love driving this car. Its zippy, and fun. The Bose stereo system sounds great for most, if youre really into your music you might be a little disappointed. The suspension is a little soft on the SL model if you really like to put the car through the turns. But overall Im very happy with the car!! I love the interior and exterior lines.

  • Envy of my friends - 2003 Nissan Murano

Ive owned my Murano for a month now, and it has not disappointed me yet. I am the envy of all my friends. To think, I was actually going to get the Highlander....HA! This is 200% better.

  • Infiniti in disguise - 2003 Nissan Murano

From the first drive you wonder how Nissan pulled this off. This is so much like an Infiniti in power and handling that nothing but admiration comes from using this car/suv. It is solid, stylish, fast, precise in its handling. The controls have been well thought-out. There is a lot of room for storage. The seats are firm and comfortable for long drives. The fit and finish are excellent. I think this is a real bargain. What can I say about the design? COOL!

  • Gas Guzzler - 2005 Nissan Murano

While I love the look feeling and driving this car it is horrible on gas mileage. I live and work in a major city and only get 9.4 miles per gallon when Im driving in the city. I can get in the high 20s on the highway, but for me this poor fuel economy is making me consider selling after only 1 year.
