This Year's Model Updates:

Not satisfied with the current crop of crossover SUVs? Nissan rolls out the newest car-based SUV, the Murano. It boasts a powerful V6 engine and distinctive styling.

Pros:
  • Very good use of interior space, unique styling inside and out, smooth and powerful engine.
Cons:
  • No third-row seating, SE model rides harshly, gets pricey with options.

  • Great Vehicle; Fuel Economy Surprise - 2003 Nissan Murano

I love this vehicle. It drives and handles very similarly to a sedan and gets me through the 12-18inches of snow that we occasionally get here. Plus it is very fast for its size. The stereo an six disc changer are very nice as well. Finally, the curb appeal is definitely there. My wife (who drives most of the time) was asked about the Murano every day for the first two weeks that we owned it. The only hitch is that I am getting 7-10 mpg less than the average that was advertised and 5- 8mpg less than the minimum stated in the drivers manual.

This has been a excellent vehicle, no problems at all, and we now have over 40K miles on it. May lease another one.

The best of all the cars/SUVs I have owned and driven.

  • Awesome Murano - 2003 Nissan Murano

I test drove Volswagon Taureg, Hyundi Santa Fe, Volvo XC-90. Murano was more stable, better gas mileage, better looking, better ride, and less expensive than every other vehicle except the Santa Fe(note to get a loaded out Santa Fe, you must pay close to $28,000). I paid 32000 with remote start, sunroof, Bose 6 CD player, custom calfskin.

  • I LOVE MY MURANO!!! - 2003 Nissan Murano

I really love this car. It is fun to drive, confortable and very cool. I have one in copper and people are contantly coming up and asking me about it. Murano owners must be grat salespeople for Nissan! It does not get good gas mileage, however. Dont believe 18-24MPG. More like 16-19MPG tops. That aside - its a great vehicle.

Bought my Midnight Blue Murano in May. It is everything I expected and more. We recently took it on an 1100 mile trip and it performed extremely well in both rain and high winds. Very quite cabin when windows are closed. Quite the sound system, the bass come in loud and clear. Navigaton system is a trip...ha ha. We didnt bring any maps and she brought us to our destination without a hitch! I would highly recommend this vehicle to anyone who loves to drive. Great pickup and passing power. Beats the Highlander by 150% which was my 2nd choice. Glad I bought the Murano.

I read all the reviews here before I bought it. A great resource. I truly love the Murano. It is fun to drive. I love the style, I get more compliments and head turning as I go by. It handles great, could be a bit smoother but this is the SE and it still is a SUV. Great power and for the money I cant think of a better vehicle. It looks and feels like a luxury SUV for $5-$10K less than the usual suspects. Curious? I paid invoice and got them to waive the marketing adjustment. Sales Rep sold one the week before to a couple who "had done their homework" for $2k more. Edmunds TMV was also $2K more than I paid. Sticker $35,384 - paid $31,800. Any fedback?

  • SE Murano AWD - 2003 Nissan Murano
    By -

Overall very pleased. AWD eliminates tourque steer and seems more stable, but is a tad slower than FWD . This is the SE and the ride is firm but not uncomfortable. Lots of fun on twisty roads with good steering feedback and excellent tracking. Pushed hard, you will get some understeer before the limit. Great Brakes. The CVT tranny takes getting used to, but I am learning to like it, especially going up hills at 70 to 80 MPH. Gas milage has averaged about 20MPG so far with 50/50 city/hiway. This should improve with break-in. Seats are comfortable, lots of room for my German Shephard in the back, good visability, excellent build quality and paint.
