Model Overview:

The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.

New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

I gave up my Lincoln LS which was a terrific car for the Murano.Driving over the Colorado mountains convinced me that I had made a good choice...it drives even better than the LS with the best transmission I have ever driven. What a pleasure to drive.

  • Good but not Great - 2007 Nissan Murano

I have driven large SUVs for the past 6 years, Ford Expedition and Chevy Tahoe. The Murano has a smother trans. and a very fun suspension. The stereo needs an mp3 jack and a bit better speakers. Id also like to have heated seats as well. Electric leather seats are comfortable and very user friendly. I like the addition of the pedals that come forward. Gas mileage (avg 22 mpg) is a bit lower than expected, but much better than the large SUVs. AWD is great. There is a rattling sound that should not be heard on a new vehicle - one that the dealer could not find. Also, the 3.5l engine pings a lot even with super unleaded gas.

Entered dealership for service and struck up a conversation with one of the salesmen while waiting. Chatted about the Murano being a hybrid and went for a test drive and was sold. So,I traded in my 1996 Nissan Pathfinder for this amazing vehicle. Totally looking forward to taking the Murano out in inclement weather to see how it performs. Has so far handled exceptionally well in heavy rain and is amazingly comfortable to drive.

Supremely comfortable, one of very few vehicles where I can fully extend my very long legs. Very spacious. Leather seats offer great comfort. Amber gauges recall the magical glow of antique radio dials, while still high tech and futuristic. Engine is incredibly strong and smooth. Shiftless transmission is a pleasure. Mileage is great while commuting, but disappointing on long trips....like overdrive gearing was forgotten. Concerns...I hit a bump last week, and the alternator went out. Overall, the package rates as best vehicle I ever owned. Highlander rides better, but otherwise cant compare. Braking, handling and engine have to be tops in class.

  • More than expected - 2003 Nissan Murano

After driving my Murano through the mountains of Colorado during the summer, I was anxious to see how comfortable it would be on a long road trip. Driving through the mountains was fun as it held the curves with very little or no sway at high speeds. I took a 2600 mile round trip through Texas and was suprised at the comfort for all passengers and also at the good gas mileage.

After a 12 months and 12K miles, this SUV contiues to delight my family. Its been absolutely reliable. The ride is firm and sporty, high seating postion offers good sight line for easy manuvering on the freeway. Ample ground clearance takes the worry out of exploring that dirt lane or that rough pavement, yet step in height is easy. The seating and interior space are very comfortable, and the leg room in back is surprising. The Murano is bigger on the inside than it looks. The kids dont get cramped on long car rides and there is even room for the dogs in the back. Speed, handling, looks, creature comforts and carrying capacity, this SUV is very versatile.

  • Im afraid of liking this too much! - 2004 Nissan Murano

Only have 1,400 miles on new Murano, but so far absolutely thrilled. Computer says averaging 23mpg... rides nice... very quiet (even when sunroof open)... great stereo...comfortable (especially ease of entry)... moveable pedals etc, with memory, quite handy...dual zone air a big plus...transmission a beaut...heated seats a "necessity"...xeon headlights a huge advancement...so far; Dealer A+.

I have owned 2 Nissan Muranos in the past I wanted to get another one, at that time the new style wasnt out and I couldnt wait so I opted for the competition. With less than 4 months left on my lease i made the decision, I went back to the Murano and couldnt be happier. Do not I repeat do underestimate this SUV. You need to drive it just like I did, Nissan did an excellent job and went to the max to Redefine.
