This Year's Model Updates:

SE models now include a manual-shift mode for the CVT, and satellite radio pre-wiring is standard on all models. The standard driver seat now features 10-way power adjustment.

Pros:
  • Excellent handling, comfortable and practical interior, unique styling inside and out, smooth and powerful engine.
Cons:
  • Continuously variable transmission detracts from performance, SE model rides harshly, no third-row seat, gets pricey with options.

  • Great blend of sports car and SUV - 2004 Nissan Murano
    By -

Considering the size of the vehicle (It always looks smaller in pictures) this vehicle has tremedous pick-up and is quite nimble. Its not a sports car, but the point is how close it comes to feeling like one: remarkable for a SUV. Yes, the GPS option is way overpriced, but it works as advertised and is also way-cool. Overall the interior is well-thought out and elegantly designed. Some of the plastic pannels seem to mar and scratch too easily, which is a disappointment in an otherwise upscale enviroment You can tell the engineers were cognisant of the driver experience in every detail. An impressive turn for its first model year.

  • Dont buy a MURANO!!! - 2004 Nissan Murano

We purchased our 04 SL AWD fully loaded Murano new in the summer of 04. We just traded in the car at 164,545 miles this summer (2014) so I can provide a comprehensive history on this car. Within a couple of years the "leather" drivers seat was cracking badly on the sides. We had to replace the steering rack, two power steering lines and a sensor, an oil cooler seal, countless tires because the car never aligned properly and would make tires very loud. By the time the car was 6 years old the rattles and switch failures, car locks etc started to add up. We traded it in with lots of small problems and an oil leak. This is our first and last Nissan. Stay away!!

  • Love that Murano - 2004 Nissan Murano

I purchased the sheer silver, with touring package (black leather) 3 weeks ago. I just turned over 1,200 miles and am really enjoying the Murano. It has averaged around 19 mpg so far and Im expecting that to continue to improve. It is built solidly, is roomy, and looks great !! It rides smoothly and Ive been very pleased with the CVT transmission. I got a great deal from a local dealer, who matched the Carmax price of $500 under invoice.

  • Stange problem.. - 2004 Nissan Murano

Since Im driving the Muran, I feel it similar to my 3 series BMW, millage is poor about 16mpg. A few days ago the top of the rear door got lose, and none at the dealer has an answer why, they took pictures and sent them to the HQ, to see if it is covered by warranty. In this short period lots of noise is going on inside, which I never expected for such a nice design.

  • Simply amazing! - 2004 Nissan Murano

words really cannot describe this vehicle. Its handling and style are wonderful and the cvt transmission makes it a seemless drive- feels like you are always in 1st gear. I would definately recommend this vehicle. I also live in rochester NY and its winters are very harsh. Finally Im looking forward to a winter with no car problems! great car!

Although I expected better gas mileage the car itself is just great. Upgrade to the BOSE - Its nice... Back seat legroom is unsurpassed.

  • Best in Class - 2004 Nissan Murano

I test drove the Honda Pilot, Saturn Vue, Chrysler Pacifica, Suburu Outback, Audi Quattro, and Infiniti (and had been driving a passat wagon). This is the best value in its class for both price and handling when looking for a wagon/smaller SUV. It is almost the same as the Infiniti in design and handling, but about $10,000 less. I like the lower to the ground SUV. It is not boxy like some of the others and dosnt get pushed around in the wind. It handles great and has many nice interior features. Thus far, I have no significant issues with the car and my wife loves driving it.

Love the vehicle, flashy, quiet, rides great. Nice features, good layout. Overall, the best car I have owned. Road noise is almost non existent, stereo is awesome (Bose), back lighting in the dash is JUST OK. Really handy is the automatic control setups for two drivers, press 1 and its the wifes configuration, and 2 for mine. All sets automatically, excluding steering wheel. Love that feature. Seperate air controls for both drivers, very nice! Added 3rd party device to get MP3 player to work with stereo, but its great to press Sat and use whatever I want to plug in to it (includes XM radio) without using FM. Very happy with vehicle. Gas mileage and having to use SUPER unleaded stinks.
