This Year's Model Updates:

For 2005, the Murano receives a rollover sensor for the side curtain airbags, and a new S model with fewer features and a lower price. New options packages and an Intelligent Key entry and ignition system are newly available.

Pros:
  • Sharp handling, strong standard engine, comfortable and practical interior.
Cons:
  • Continuously variable transmission detracts from performance, SE model rides harshly, no third-row seat.

Purchased the 2005 Murano after driving a 2002 Tahoe for three years. Car performs great. Fun to drive, great power. Only one problem since purchase date...engine sensor...was repaired with no further problems. Gas mileage is close to 20 in town and 25 hwy. Service dept is great.

The Murano is a car that Ive admired since it 1st came out. The design beats many more expensive competitors, like a Lexus RX without the price tag. Smooth quite ride, very roomy interior and nice aluminum accents throughout. I really love the Murano, my only complaint is that the Sunlit Copper color is not available in the S model. Now I am contemplating whether I should trade in my S Merlot for an SL Sunlit Copper. Having the Murano in the "orange" color would really make me a very satisfied and long term MUrano owner. Now Id have to think whether the color is worth a few k over. Otherwise, the Murano is highly recommended, you wont be disappointed. Just a beautiful SUV overall!

I purchased this car in 2008 for 17 grand. In the four years that Ive had it, the car has cost me over 11 grand in repairs. Most recently it had Catastrophic Transmission Failure, among many other things that now need repair. It only has 81505 miles on it. Nissan is refusing to cover the Transmission under the Warranty as well. They want 4 grand to fix the Transmission and another 2,500 for other repairs, such as, Camshaft sensors, drive belts, head gasket,Transfer case.. This car has caused me huge financial and emotional pain. I would not recommend buying one. I will never purchase a nissan again.

  • A well executed SUV - 2005 Nissan Murano

I have owned this vehicle for three months. CVT transmission is a delight-- responsive and sparing with gas. Front seats are superb. Ride is well controlled--not too soft and not too harsh. Hatch is a bit heavy to lift. Handles beautifully at high speeds.

This is a very nice car, very affordable to lease with the residuals on these cars. I love it, it totally kills the Ford explorer i used to drive, i dont think its a sluggish car contrary to what the edmunds review states. this car has alot of zip and pickup. plenty of power,

After owning a 98 Blazer and an 02 TBlazer I decided to try something different. The Murano is powerful, roomy, comfortable, fun to drive, and stylish. I recommend anyone looking for a new vehicle to test drive it and see for yourself. Ive had it for four months now and have had absolutely no problems, which is more than I can say for the previous two SUVs Ive owned.

As my family is growing up and gas prices are soaring, I made the decision to trade my Expedition for a Murano and am very happy I did. The Murano has nice tight handling around my country roads. I do agree that the transmission intermitently become sluggish, but it is not intolerable. It is quiet and quick to stop. The milage continues to improve and the bells and whistles of my SL have been fun. The interior is roomier than it appears and I love the automatic/personalized seat adjustment. The cargo space is smaller than I am used to, but with the easy flip down of the seats I have been able to move furniture. It has taken time to get used to the cars blind spots.

This is an above average SUV. Loaded with options and it handles great. Ride is overall good and I am getting 18 MPG combined. The styling makes this auto look like no other. The Murano has been back to the dealer for 2 defects but the dealer fixed both. I would buy it again.
