Overview & Reviews
The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.
New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

Almost perfect - 2005 Nissan Murano
By Gary Knowlton - November 18 - 12:30 pmI dont drive my 2005 Nissan Murano much, so I am experiencing low gas milage. I have had this vehicle for almost a year and still only have 4,000 miles on it. It drives like a sports car, but gives me the utility of an SUV. I moved from a Honda Pilot to the Murano for the performance and handling. I like it a lot, and am waiting for a chance to take a long trip so I can see if the gas milage goes up. The Murano is also very quiet on the road, and a great touring vehicle. It sits just high enough to give the driver a good view of whats going on around you, but low enough to be very aerodynamic. I keep looking for things I would have done different, but they have done everything right.

AWD SE - 2003 Nissan Murano
By Tyler_Canada - November 14 - 2:00 amIve put almost 2100 miles on it already, and I love it! The transmission is smooth, the engine is quiet or powerful. The handling is incredible, including in adverse weather. Eye-catching exterior design. I really enjoy the interior styling, the aluminum accents the charcoal nicely. Filled with lots of technology for the price.

Best Cross-Over SUV On The Market - 2003 Nissan Murano
By Mike995134 - November 14 - 2:00 amIt has head-turning good looks ... all positive I might add. The interior is spacious, extremely functional, well- constructed, and has a awesome high- tech ambiance. And the seats ... well they are about the best Ive seen. Very, very comfortable. As for the mechancials ... it takes a llittle while to get accusotmed to the CVT tranny but it is sooooooooooooo smooth. And its clearly evident that there are 245 ponies under the hold pulling their own ... this things flat- out screams. I think the Jan article in a major car magazine called it the "Z of SUVs" ... and that is soooooooooooo true.

More then an SUV - 2003 Nissan Murano
By wbury - November 14 - 2:00 amWe had just purchased our AWD SL Murano during the Presidents Day Weekend. That Monday we picked it up and my wife used it that evening to go to work. We had a relatively large snow storm. It was the vehicles first test for us. We owned an Explorer prior to getting the Murano, so we expected a certain amount of AWD performance. When my wife arrived home that evening from work, she was just elated how well it handled in the snow. She said it cut through the unplowed streets like butter. The ride is so car- like versus the ride we had in the explorer. We love, not to mention the head turns we get when we drive it around.

By AK - November 13 - 12:56 pmIncredible car, fun to drive, great handling, second row seat has generous leg room, large cargo area, leather is soft and supple - added wood trim kit - very rich and warm interior, center console has spots for cell phone, change & cup holders - all hide away nicely when not in use.

Murano at 230k miles - 2004 Nissan Murano
By BrockFromAtlanta - November 11 - 11:06 amThe murano has been in the family since new. this SUV is made well, but it cans be abused. It has good cargo space. it is comfortable and strong. Cvt tranmission shifts well but it requires high maintenance(CVT fluid is over $20 per Quart, and the vehicle may have acceleration issues if the fluid is slightly low). It still runs on original engine and original transmission. It runs and drives well, however it started to burn oil( I have been using 20W/50 grade oil since 175k to reduce oil consumption). Engine is super quite when idles. All motor mounts, valve cover gaskets, oil pan gasket, power steering pressure line, and radiator went bad before hitting 180k. Doing the work myself, I saved a lot. I work on cars a lot, and I have to tell you that working on Muranos are very hard because of design. Replacement parts are usually more expensive compare hondas. As it was stated by other owners, sun visors are made cheap as well as leather on armrest. It tows well. Engine and muffler sound sporty when rpm goes high.

Awesome!!! - 2003 Nissan Murano
By Chicago Will - November 9 - 10:00 amPicked up my Sheer Silver Murano SL AWD in May... and its AWESOME! After testing driving and extensive research, I decided to trade in my 2001 Pathfinder for it. CVT 245 hp engine is quick and smooth (and quiet). Exterior design is sweet and interior is roomy. People have complained about "turbulence" when moon roof or backwindows only are open, but they have been misinformed. Dealer explained that the moonroof has a setting which addresses turbulence and as for opening only the back windows causing this, it also happens on other cars. Test drive one and youll be hooked (plus, the fact that reviewers compare it to the BMW X5 at a $30K price). Nissan as another winner!
