This Year's Model Updates:

For 2005, the Murano receives a rollover sensor for the side curtain airbags, and a new S model with fewer features and a lower price. New options packages and an Intelligent Key entry and ignition system are newly available.

Pros:
  • Sharp handling, strong standard engine, comfortable and practical interior.
Cons:
  • Continuously variable transmission detracts from performance, SE model rides harshly, no third-row seat.

  • Thinks its a sports sedan - 2005 Nissan Murano

Excellent Crossover with plenty of sporty character and high-tech goodies. Since its based on an Altima platform, handling and cornering is good, with very good steering feel. CVT is interesting, a nice combination with a sweet engine. The Murano is more upscale than its competitors, and more comfortable front and back. Comfortable seats with lots of room--Im 67" tall and there is still plenty of room in back seat.

We have been extremely happy thus far with our 2005 Murano S. We have had no problems mechanically or otherwise.

Excellent quality vehicle which is also fun to drive. The 6 disc in-dash sound system is outstanding and extremely simply to program. Wonderfully designed interior and a real head turning exterior style. Best investment for the money,

  • Time bomb after 36K miles warranty expired - 2005 Nissan Murano

This is my second Nissan. First one was a 98 Pathfinder that had 210,000 miles. That was very reliable and no major issues. This one had power steering fluid hose leak at 45K miles ($400). At 60K, an electronic board limited my power to almost none. When I pressed on gas, the car would go very slow. ($450). Battery drained too fast and on my 4th. ($90 a pop) Visor would just fall on its own ($400 bucks for a visor at the dealer??? come on). Two leaks, one from engine oil, one from transmission. ($850). Engine oxygen sensor failed (($450). Now, my drive train feels very rough and certainly doesnt feel as smooth as before). Im scared to go to the dealer and see what they find.

  • FUN! - 2005 Nissan Murano

After driving a minivan for 10 years, I was ready for something different and the Murano is it. It is truly fun to drive, very maneuverable, has quick acceleration, and did I say fun to drive? The Bose sound system is excellent and the sunroof is a pleasure. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for something besides the Lexus/Infiniti/Volvo pack of mid- size SUVs.

  • Looks can be deceiving - 2005 Nissan Murano

Exterior looks are great, but the car feels cheap. Too much plastic inside, alignment issues (ALWAYS pulls in one direction, my 2002 accord drives better), seat seems to be loose, shift knob gets loose, poorly designed electronics system, monochrome screen for onboard display (kind of like an old DOS PC).

  • So far, so good.... - 2005 Nissan Murano

Ive had the car for less than two months. So far its been the best car I have ever owned. Smooth ride, great power, awesome interior looks. I live in Boston where we get a good deal of snow and this car is amazing. I have a very steep driveway and I have never had a problem getting up it at all. There has not been one problem so far, and I hope that continues to be the case. I highly recommend this car to anyone who is looking for an SUV. I test drove this, the Pathfinder, the Xterra, the Toyota Highlander, Toyota 4 Runner, Jeep Grand Cherokee... it wasnt even close. Once you drive this car you will see what I mean. It is the smoothest ride I have ever felt, including from a sedan!

The seats are very comfortable, We have the SL with key less entry which is great. Back Seats recline and there is a lot of leg room in the back. We have had several mechanical issues which never seem to be under warrenty. Really good pickup when starting

  • Love My Murano - 2005 Nissan Murano

This is my first SUV. I had researched several crossovers, but this was the most comfortable. I have a lower back problem and the seat adjustments in the Murano were the best I had found. I drove this car from NY to DC and back twice since May and I was extremely comfortable both times. Also, there is an enormous amount of space for packing - I was able to fit all my sons items for college including a TV, a large trunk, computer equipment, clothes and several boxes. The radio is fabulous. The dealership in Smithtown is fair and accomdating.
