Model Overview:

The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.

New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

I traded two vehicles: an 03 Murano SL AWD and 05 350Z Roadster after realizing that it is no longer practical for me to have 2 vehicles requiring premium fuel. I purchased a black on black w/leather LE loaded with the dual panel roof instead of a DVD player. This car is an absolute delight to drive and Im amazed at the amount of room as well as the creature comforts. When you press the accelerator, it responds effortlessly. 20hp more than my 03 and seems like about the same mileage with mid-grade fuel. If you select a black one, only use microfiber cloths on the exterior and say good-bye to automatic car washers.

  • Love the car - 2005 Nissan Murano

We looked at all the boxy suvs, the styling of this car is wonderful. There is a lot of room, both for passengers and cargo when you need it. We like the transmission, so quiet. Just drove it from Tucson to Seattle with no problems and appreciate the power. Nissan seems to have asked all the right questions to determine what features potential buyers would like..... and then incorporated them all very nicly in this suv.

  • Absolutely love this vehicle! - 2010 Nissan Murano
    By -

After many weeks of research & test drives, I purchased a 2010 Murano SL with leather, moonroof, bluetooth, ipod, upgraded Bose stereo, Homelink, backup camera. I researched and drove: Honda CRV, Subaru Outback; Subaru Forester; Volvo XC60; Volvo XC90; VW Tiguan, Kia Sorento and (but didnt drive) Audi Q5, Rav4, so a very broad spectrum. The is by far the best value: more luxurious than Subaru, Honda, Rav4 and Kia; more for the money than Volvo and Audi; more space than a Tiguan; same or more power than most; same or better mpg than most. Nissan reliability (vs. Audi, Kia & VW). I love this vehicle and highly recommend it!

  • Nice Ride - Got a great deal - 2007 Nissan Murano
    By -

I just purchased my 07 SL-AWD a month ago and so far so good. Really like how quickly it passes other vehicles. Love the NAV and the back up camera. Another cool thing is the speed sensitive radio volume and the tire pressure monitor and gas mileage indicator. So far I am at 19 MPG and Im no granny when Im driving to work. The seats are very comfortable and the ride is so smooth and quite and the handing is amazing for a SUV. Took a sharp corner @ 55 MPH and no roll or wheel squeal. The only regret I have is getting it in black. I forgot how much you have to keep it cleaned. But when it is clean, wow, it looks sharp.

  • Disappointed with my 2009 - 2009 Nissan Murano
    By -

I had a 2005 Murano and loved it. After test driving the 2009, I decided to trade the old one. The 2009 is definitely more refined than my 2005. However, the 2009 has been riddled with squeaks, creaks and rattles since delivery. It has been off the road for almost a month in total as the dealer has tried to repair it. After replacing almost all plastic pieces in the interior of the vehicle, there is now an issue with how the body panels were assembled at the factory. Nissan is not clear yet how to fix this issue. It likely will involve body work, re- welding the panels and inserting some type of insulation to prevent rubbing during body flex. Stay tuned. Check other blogs for similar posts

  • Murano Too many frivolous frills - 2003 Nissan Murano

I dont own this car but would like to. I spent a lot of time at IRA Nissan and test drove this vehicle. Its a lot of fun to drive and versatile. Im not sure what to make of the continously variable transmission, time will tell on that. Also, the 18" tires ought to be a bit of a surprise when they need to be replaced, I would bet that they are expensive. Too bad they dont offer a more bare bones AWD version of this car. Its too expensive for me, Id be all over it if it was available in AWD for under $28 k

Bought a new one only in black on tan. Sl awd came with it. Since moved to Az. Truck is outstanding. Ride is firm yet very comfy. Excellent visibility. Ride is best to my 83 944. Averaging 20 mpg city and highway.

  • Safety Technology is Behind Times - 2016 Nissan Murano
    By -

If you purchase the 2016 Murano with the Technology package be aware that there are NO beeping sensors on this vehicle. In other words, although you have a front and back camera, the vehicle will not make a beep sound if you are starting to get too close to a stationary item. What a disappointment given that these beep sensors have been around since dinosaurs.

  • Love my Murano - 2009 Nissan Murano

I bought my 2009 Murano new. I have been extremely pleased with the vehicle. I drive low miles of about 7k a year, which may account for some of my experience. From reliability to ride, Ive loved it.My only complaints are the tire size is rare and you cant update the navigation yourself. Otherwise, it has been one of best vehicles Ive owned. Im only giving it up now because my kids are out of the house and Im ready for a car. But Ive had such a good experience that Im giving the Murano to one of my kids.

  • MURANO - LEXUS RX WHO??? - 2003 Nissan Murano
    By -

COMPARING THE MURANO TO THE TOYOTA HIGHLANDER IS A JOKE. NOW, KNOWING THAT THE HIGHLANDER IS STEP-BROTHER TO THE LEXUS RX300 (RX330), I THINK IT IS MORE ACCURATE TO COMPARE THESE TWO UNITS. BUT TALK ABOUT BANG-FOR-YOUR- BUCK! THE MURANO ROCKS! ABSOLUTELY FUN TO DRIVE, GREAT HANDLING, GREAT ACCELERATION, STYLING IS THE BEST OUT THERE. A GREAT BUY IN MY OPINION.
