This Year's Model Updates:

For 2005, the Murano receives a rollover sensor for the side curtain airbags, and a new S model with fewer features and a lower price. New options packages and an Intelligent Key entry and ignition system are newly available.

Pros:
  • Sharp handling, strong standard engine, comfortable and practical interior.
Cons:
  • Continuously variable transmission detracts from performance, SE model rides harshly, no third-row seat.

  • Great all around vehicle. - 2005 Nissan Murano

Purhcased this car for my wife in Nov 2005 after I wrecked her PT Cruiser. She wanted it because of the look and the adjustble pedals, (shes 5 feet tall and has always had to sit very close to the steering wheel to reach the pedals). She fits great, now a safe distance from the air bag, and absolutely loves the car. It handles like a car, not a truck, gas mileage averages around 23 and will run fine on regular even though Nissan recommends 91 octane. I drive a Jeep Grand Cherokee, and try to drive the Nissan as often as I can, much more fun to drive, and more comfortable.

This auto is the most comfortable that I have owned in the last 10 years. It is fun to drive and is well thought out, functionally. It handles beautifully in all weather conditions (compact snow & ice are a dream).

  • Rear Visibility would be nice - 2005 Nissan Murano

I received this vehicle as a rental. The design of the rear quarter windows creates one of the worst blind spots in any vehicle Ive driven. The layout of the controls are not very well organized. The mirror controls are way to far out of reach. Fuel mileage was very poor at 17 mpg. My 15 year old F-150 with a V-8 does better! I wish the rental company could have given me an American vehicle.

  • Great car. - 2005 Nissan Murano

Love the car. It has been all I expected it to be. I like sitting very high and having the feeling of being in a large vehicle and getting the mpg of a smaller one. Fyi a previous reviewer, the rear seats do recline if you know how to pull a strap on the set bottom and push the back of the seat.

We replaced our Ford Expedition with the Murano. We love the trade off, size for style and comfort. We also enjoy the increase in gas milage.

Extremely comfortable with crisp handling. The comfort of a touring sedan with all wheel drive. This SUV is a pleasure to drive. The navigation system is easy to use and youll never get lost again. I look forward to driving it every day.

  • Great SUV - 2005 Nissan Murano

Great looking vehicle with an engine that will make you proud! Getting roughly 19 MPG while driving in NYC. Highway mileage has peaked at roughly 22-23 MPG. Cant complain about those numbers when you get that the power you do.

  • Smart Design - 2005 Nissan Murano

Test drove tons of SUVs and nothing compares to the Murano. The outside looks compact, but the inside is so smartly configured, my 65", 300 lb husband has no problem getting comfortable! Manuevers better than my previous sedan, however it does lack the zip my sedan had. But once you get going, power is not a problem. Interior is beautiful and the standard model includes some great features which makes the Murano a great value.

  • Not a long term car - too bad - 2005 Nissan Murano
    By -

Loved my Murano from day 1 but am learning the hard way it wont go long term without some heavy costs. Currently @53,000 miles. Drivers seat rail collapsed just after warranty expired. Nissan USA forced dealership to cover the repair without cost - it clearly wasnt normal wear & tear. Now electrical systems are acting up - even when not it in use the Bose 6 disc CD player shuffles discs when the ignition is turned off. Front windows roll down when the remote is used to unlock the car. Occasionally, a motor under the passenger seat triggers and whines when I turn the ignition off.
