Overview & Reviews
Not satisfied with the current crop of crossover SUVs? Nissan rolls out the newest car-based SUV, the Murano. It boasts a powerful V6 engine and distinctive styling.
- Very good use of interior space, unique styling inside and out, smooth and powerful engine.
- No third-row seating, SE model rides harshly, gets pricey with options.

Looked them all over - this is the one - 2003 Nissan Murano
By budmandoq - November 6 - 2:00 amMy wife and I have tried many 2003 SUVs and cars - from the GMC Envoy, to the Infinity G35, from the Bonneville to the Cadillac CTV, from the Jeep Legend to the Toyota Highlander. True, were not "off roaders" and we like our creature comforts. By far, the Murano SL with Leather and Premium packages and Traction control, was the best ride, the best feel of quality, and the best overall match of "THE vehicle" we wanted. Not to mention it looks great. Highly recommended. And contrary to some other posters views on economics, we consider even MSRP list as cheap for this vehicle. Thanks Nissan! We love it.

Mixed bag - 2003 Nissan Murano
By MuranoMrs - October 27 - 10:00 amFun to drive, but be sure you test drive it on rough roads with open windows. Interior quality is poor; I have persistent rattles that cant be fixed and had to have the entire center console replaced. My gas mileage is horrendous...about 25% less than advertised. Styling does turn heads. I hope the short warranty doesnt indicate what I think it might after my experience so far.

I love this car! - 2003 Nissan Murano
By tom bottom - October 18 - 1:40 pmReliable, great in bad conditions, and just fun to drive. Bose system with controls on the wheel are a plus. Extra features...with rear folding seats activated from the back are a plus. Retracting rear seats are roomy even with a full cargo load.

Loving It !!!!!!!!!!! - 2003 Nissan Murano
By CDTILL - September 25 - 2:00 amThe commercials do not do this vehicle justice. I was skeptical at first, but after the test drive I bought it that same day. The exterior is exotic looking and the interior is spacious (I am 61")and fun. I was looking into the volvo XC90, but decided this was the better choice. It is FUN to drive!!!!

refreshingly fast - 2003 Nissan Murano
By the kid - September 25 - 2:00 am0-60 in like 7.5 sec for a SUV that also average like 20 mpg. Whats not to like? Concerns: long term reliability with new CVT tranny and price.

Tranmission Design Defect - 2003 Nissan Murano
By jbhog330 - September 24 - 6:46 amI just turned over 89750 miles on my Murano. Must to my surprise the transmission has gone bad. Come to find out this is a "typical" problem with this year and the 2004s yet the factory still fails to acknowledge it. The cost to fix, over $5000. Not a small pill to swallow. Nissan owes it to their customers to step up to the plate and rectify the situation. I am joining a class action law suit against Nissan for this defective transmission, specifically pressure sensor unit. This is a SERIOUS potential cause of death due to the way the tranny goes. You could be pulling out into traffic and it will not move for 10-15 seconds. Someone will probably die because Nissan does not want to lose $$

5 Months and still the best! - 2003 Nissan Murano
By crashl82 - September 20 - 10:00 amAt this point I am still telling everyone that my Murano has to be the best vehicle out there for your money. Mine is blk with blk leather interior with all the bells and whistles and I love everything about it. Everything functions perfectly and I even enjoy relaxing in the rear seats which recline. Why spend the extra $20 grand for names like infinity or BMW when you get a superior vehicle with everything and anything you could possibly want in a vehicle. I have driven other vehicles(Range Rovers, Hummer H2s) and they have nothing on this. Buy this car you will never regret it!

no FX35 but pretty nice anyway - 2003 Nissan Murano
By higby - September 20 - 10:00 amLove this car...traded Audi A6 quattro wagon for it....the interior quality is not close to audi quality but Ill bet it turns out to be more reliable than the audi.....obsessed over FX35 for a long time which exceeds Murano in interior quality as well but it was 4 to 5 grand more....anyway Murano is fast, quiet, smooth, handles beautifully, and looks pretty good. Also has more room than audi which we needed.Wouldnt hesitate to recommend this car to anyone!!
