Model Overview:

The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.

New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

  • Nissan has a few bugs. - 2006 Nissan Murano

Overall the Murano is good vehicle. That being said it like many other cars, Im sure, is not without it faults. To date failures include: The passenger side sun visor flops down and refuses to stay up or forward. The side of the leather seat(the vinyl part) has split into an "X" for no apparent reason and the airbag light is flashing and is going to have to be replaced to the tune of $1000. The seat and visor is also a complaint in other Nissan model, that apparently is not an issue to Nissan.

This is the first suv I have ever owned. From the time i drove out of the dealership until today i have never had more fun driving any other vehicle. From its great handling to its clean lines i gould not be happier in my choice to purchase this vehicle.

  • Finally Happy A Year Late - 2016 Nissan Murano

I was shopping a car for myself a year ago and accidently came across Murano which was even on my radar screen before that day. I was so attracted by the comfort and finish of the interior / seats that I made a kind of rush decision and bought Murano instead. The car has run smooth for 18,000 miles and comfortable like piloting a spaceship, but for a year, I have had a kind of regret for my rush decision not my original plan. I am shopping a car for wife now and test drove a BMW 535 xDrive (my wifes choice). I was so surprised when I set in the BMW. The sale person saw the surprise on my face and mistaken that I was awed by BMW. I was actually stunned by how primitive and noise its interior feels and how cumbersome its controls ( not touch screen??). If this is what BMW can offer, I am very happy with my Murano now, Finally, A year later.

  • Big Disappointment - Safety Concerns - 2003 Nissan Murano

What a lemon! Drivers seat is loose and rocks back and forth from first week. Williams Nissan in Boyertown, PA and Nissan report other customers have same complaint, but they have no fix! CD player makes clicking sound. Turn volume down and listen. Again no fix yet. Brakes squeel when applied in reverse, considered "normal" for this vehicle. Carpet held down with staples and velcro, typical of overall quality. The list goes on. Save yourself a big headache and wait until engineering catches up with design.

  • Wise Choice! - 2009 Nissan Murano
    By -

After much research and test drives of the vehicles in this class, my wife and I decided on the new 2009 Nissan Murano. We traded in a 2006 Pontiac Torrent and this was a definite upgrade. We are both impressed with the quality of the Murano inside and out. The interior is very luxurious and well thought out. The seats are very comfortable, and every driver should be able to find a good driving position. We traveled 200 miles to a business meeting and did not want to get out of the car. We purchased the SL model FWD with everything but the navigation package. Driving in town or at highway speed, the car is extremely quiet and comfortable. We feel we made a wise choice.

  • Most comfortable & quiet vehicle - 2010 Nissan Murano

My wife and I looked at multiple vehicles by multiple manufacturers to replace our 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix. We narrowed our list to the Nissan Murano SL and the Honda CR-V EX-L. We took a final test drive with both vehicles on the same day and it was no comparison, the Nissan Murano had superior comfort, better ride quality, more trunk and interior space and more features for the money. We have put 2500 miles on the Murano and we absolutely love it. We have been averaging 21 to 23 MPG using midgrade and premium gas. The CVT transmission is amazing and want to replace our other vehicle, having a six speed auto, with one that has a CVT transmission.

  • Ill keep buying It... - 2005 Nissan Murano

I have owned many vehicles in my time but this is by far the best suv on the market today. I am a big woman and I feel like a little girl inside this truck. Now if you can make it in a convertible "My dreams will come true"

  • Love it! - 2005 Nissan Murano

I love my 2005 Nissan Murano so far. It has a nice ride and gets decent mileage. I like the exterior very much and it handles well in snow. I also looked at the Honda Pilot, Mitsubishi Endeavor, and Acura MDX, but settled for the Murano since we did not need the third row seat and liked the ride and performance.

  • Very Pleased Overall -- CVT Not So Much - 2006 Nissan Murano
    By -

We like this car! Overall fine repair record; nice ride; great flexibility for load carrying. Just two complaints -- the CVT and the rooftop rack. Around 75,000 miles, the CVT started to show problems, specifically failure to upshift and revving up to 3K rpm or more at 20 or more MPH (unable to drive faster -- just revved faster). Of course, this was sporadic and never showed itself when taken to the dealership until the day when it finally appeared and I drove it over, revving mightily all the way. Nissan replaced the transmission under warranty. The CVT has always been functional but rather halting -- dont really care for it. The other complaint applies not only to the Murano (a humorous note -- the spellchecker highlights Murano as a misspelling and offers the alternatives "Moreno" and "Murine") but to many other SUVs of all brands. The rooftop luggage rack consists of two rails parallel to the long axis of the car, but does not have an essential transverse front rail. Stylish, but of absolutely no value when trying to prevent a load (a fresh-cut Christmas tree is a case in point) from sliding backward. You need to faster a load to a front rail to prevent it fro sliding backward. Style, but no substance. Overall, a fine vehicle and my third Nissan.

  • I LOVE THIS CAR! - 2003 Nissan Murano

3 years ago I bought a new Honda Accord SE. I loved this car, just no leather, cd player, and a smaller engine. I traded it almost shy of 2 years. I then got a Mazda Millenia, I HATED that car. The service was the worst, right down to the people who sold it to me. Well, 11/2 month ago I traded the millenia in for my MURANO.. I LOVE IT LOVE IT, LOVE IT! Thanks nissan for making such a vechile. I drive it everyday, just to drive. Thanks!
