Model Overview:

The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.

New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

Great steering feel, transmission requires 200 miles befor it quiets down, tire noise also vanishes after 200 miles.

After three, 3-year Jeep leases in a row, I decided to go with the Murano. I drove it recently, round-trip, from FL to NY. I added the touring package: a $4,300 option. Its comfortable, rides and handles well, and the A/C is outstanding (edge to Murano). The gas mileage is, at best, comparable to its peers. I got 15 all-around mpgs and 23.4 mpgs during my 20 hours of pure hwy driving. Needs more odd-stuff storage space (edge to Jeep), and the rear visibilty is fair because the window seems higher. Center console opens from the drivers side; a pain when try to get something from the passenger side. Turning radius is fair (edge to Jeep). Sunroof is small, an

Sharp styling, good performance, good power, rides well, neat interior, low noise, MPG decent for a SUV. Appears to br top notch quality but only time will tell.

  • The best after 50 years of driving cars - 2006 Nissan Murano

Had a 1999 jeep grand cherokee that gas mileage was 17 to 18 all the time. I am hard to please. I have a 2004 turbo Porsche with 444 hp. I looked at the suvs. that are out there. Took me 9 months. The Nissan Murano was just the best. Period. I have been around cars and have flagged races for years all over the country and have owned MGS to Delornes. Edmunds says the cvt trany saps power. I dont think he has driver the transmission. Quality is out standing. Everything fits and it all works as they say it should. If you want a good suv try one of these. A test drive will sell you as it did me.

Traded in a Quest van. Nissan really ramped up their quality with the Murano. The ride is excellent and the seats are very comfortable. All controls are easy to find and use. The back up camera is wonderful. The inside feels very large and spacious, while the outside looks sleek and compact. I am very satisfied with this vehicle.

  • 2005 Murano AWD SE with Nav, Tech, Sport - 2005 Nissan Murano

Transitioning from a Chrysler Town & Country AWD minivan to a Nissan Murano SE AWD is a complete delight. Minivans are not much of a drivers car as much as they are good for long distance cruising. To delight the driver in everyone, the Nissan Murano delivers sports car like acceleration, comfortable high position seating, performance tires, suspension and brakes and the MOST smoothest transmission I have ever experienced in any vehicle. Add the naviagation and DVD entertainment packages and you have the best of both worlds between minivan driving needs and the car driver looking for performance yet comfort and amenities. I am delighted by the overall package delivered by Nissan.

  • engine and transmission problems? - 2005 Nissan Murano
    By -

My 2005 SE AWD used oil. Fortunately my 2005 Murano was under warranty for the engine replacement ( using oil with no visible burn or leak) at 80,000 miles and for the transmission replacement at 128,000 miles. Engine mount replacements, driver seat motor, and CV joint! I bought the Silver warranty at the dealership and then extended it as long as I could (140,000). Thank God!

  • 04 Murano a disappointment - 2004 Nissan Murano

This was our 3rd and last Nissan. First 2 were awesome then came the Murano. Starting at 75k miles everything went sour. 2 sensors, 2 motor mounts, cat converter, power locks plus small things had to be replaced. I got no help from Nissans customer service. Cat converter went 500 miles after warranty and got no help thru Nissan. After 4k+ in repairs, I finally dumped it and will never buy another Nissan. Buyer beware, do your research very carefully. I got rid of mine before the CVT failed, that would have been another $5k.
