Model Overview:

The Nissan Murano was one of the first midsize crossovers introduced in the United States and quickly became a popular alternative to more traditional SUVs thanks to its taut, carlike driving character and avant-garde styling. Later Nissan Muranos are notable for their higher-quality interiors, updated technology features and higher fuel economy ratings.

New or used, the Murano is definitely worth a look if you're on the hunt for a midsize crossover with seating for five. In reviews, our editors have generally praised this Nissan's sophisticated appearance, stylish and comfortable interior and strong acceleration. Middling cargo capacity and poor rearward visibility are our main complaints about the Nissan Murano. You'll find competing models that are better on one or both of these counts, but most won't match the Murano's combination of performance and style.

  • I LOVE MY MURANO! - 2005 Nissan Murano

As a previous Chevrolet Suburban owner (for about eleven years) this Nissan took me by surprise. I cant ride in smaller vehicles without feeling carsick and unsafe. When I started to think about down-sizing, I drove all sorts of styles and models. And I came across a Murano, drove it and loved it! But I wasnt sure I could drive a smaller vehicle ALL the time. I kept my sub. for a little longer, but kept looking at other vehicle, always going back to the Murano. Then I found one that had ALL of the options of an SL, but was an S. I traded in my sub. for it, had a panic attack 9 days later, and got over that about 3 days later. I made the right choice! I absolutely LOVE MY MURANO!!!

I have owned my Murano LE since early January and I absolutely love it. I have previously driven a Ford Explorer and a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Nothing compares to the smooth, quiet and luxurious ride of the Murano. The dashboard is arranged perfectly and the console has two cup holders plus a very useful oblong holder that is perfect to hold the cell phone open while using the Bluetooth, or any other item that you might need in a hurry. This car has it all- easy to pull down rear seats, lots of room in the back, auto lift gate is wonderful, the 6 cyl. engine has incredible power on the highway, especially for merging, and definitely is more powerful than my Jeep V-8 ever was! Awesome car!

Love the Murano, style, performance is great. Mileage is a little less than I expected, although I have gotten 21 mpg at times. Biggest gripe is that is easy to lock yourself out, especially with the key in the ignition, and, even with the engine running.I find I have to leave the window open or not close the door if I want to step out for a moment. I believe the unlock mechanism above the door handle does not open al the way and is easily partially closed when opening the door from inside.

  • Room for a 6 footer - 2005 Nissan Murano
    By -

The room in this vehicle is amazing. My 6 ft son has more than enough room in the rear seat even when the front seat is full back. The back seat also reclines for even more comfort. The upgraded seating is comfortable for long trips. My wife no longer has to "fall" into a vehicle or "crawl" out of it, a real bonus for arthritic folks. Wide footprint, excellent handling. Didnt think I would buy anything other than traditional american vehicle until I drove this!

  • I wouldnt let my enemies drive a Murano - 2005 Nissan Murano

I dont work for any competitor of Nissan. I did own a Infinity that was a great car. The Nissan Murano is the worst vehicle in terms of reliability I have owned ever (I have owned quite a few). Over 17k in repairs over 9 years (3 to 4 times what I would spend on either the infinity or Hondas I have owned - yes, I adjusted for inflation). Do not buy a Murano or you will be very sorry.

  • Excellent - 2005 Nissan Murano

This car is as good as it looks. There is more space inside than you can imagine and is very comfortable. It gives you a sense of comfort when you drive. I love the navigation system. But make sure you dont get the black one because it gets dirty very quickly. Fuel consumption is very good. I have no complaints about the car. But the dealerships should have more options available. Some of the options, I truly did not need but had to get it because it came with the other options I needed. Enjoy your car and love it!!!

This Murano is my first Nissan. Ive had many SUVs in the past dozen or so years. This crossover was the answer to my needs. The Murano has been a very comfortable and enjoyable vehicle. I recently moved from Idaho to Washington and it pulled a 3,000 lb load trailer like a dream. It easily made it through the mountain climbs and averaged about 15 MPG with the heavy load. On another trip with no trailer, it averaged about 24 MPG. Im very pleased with the performance and ride. It is surprisingly quick when punched and handles well. I especially like all the bells and whistles it comes with. The voice commands and bluetooth work very well. Overall - Im very pleased with this Murano.

I bought my S AWD Murano used with 9K demo miles on it. I love it as much today as when I bought it. I did have a noise come from the CVT transmission at 30K miles, it didnt break but was making a tick noise so Nissan provided me with a rental and replaced it with a new one. Since then I have Zero problems with the car other than regular maintenance. The original tires lasted me 66K miles. If I had to replace it today with someone else on the market I would get a 2011 Murano. During Chicagos blizzard last winter and with nearly bald tires I was still able to drive through 10 inches plus of snow without getting stuck!
